Spam on Pprune email?

OK, I give up. For the last few months I've been getting ever increasing amounts of spam in my pprune email inbox. Lately it's been running at about 25 a day.

Suddenly today, I've gone to my inbox and there's nothing there! For 8 hours now! My automatic reaction was to panick, strangely enough, thinking my email must have shut down, but a test message to myself worked fine. (For the sake of verisimilitude I promised to enlarge my own penis).

What gives? Has something changed in the setup or is it more likely to be the changes I've made to Zone Alarm?

Binoculars,

A firewall will not block email. The email, in this case, goes to PPRuNe's Mail Server and you either download it from there via POP3 or view it though your Browser. (I do not use PPRuNe email so I do not know their exact setup, POP3 or Browser Based.)

Take Care,

Richard

Richard :

PPRuNe email is primarily web based, but there's an upgrade costriung about $25 a year to allow SMTP/POP access - I've gone for that cos I have three accounts I'm juggling at the mo.

I have NEVER had spam in my PPRuNe account - I use it solely for personal mail, and use a Hotmail one for registering for all those porno sites - ooops !

I have an e-mail address solely for PPRuNe use and have never used it for any other purpose than a few communications with PPRuNe HQ.

But for several weeks this address has been getting about 5-10 of the most naïve mock porno spams a day in the POP3 inbox - not in PPRuNe itself. Somhow it must have leaked out to the wider world.

The worst purport to come from an address in the AOL domain. I always copy the headers and forward the e-mail and headers to [email protected]. I've yet to have an acknowledgement even though they are never returned as undeliverable.

FWIW, I have a pilot.pprune e-mail address and all I get is the odd nigerian-scam mails. Never really had anything else at all and have found it quite reliable.

Fobotsco. I have a simialr problen from one of my other accounts. I too forward them to AOL but no response at all back from them. They just don't care.

B R "L", just got another worse than most so took a look at the AOL home page and found this e-mail address so I've forwarded it there. If there's any result, I'll post it here.
