Troubles with Windows XP
I have just completed a clean installation of Windows XP professional (in German but thats a different story), and I currently have two problems that I would greatly appreciate any help with.
I have installed my ADSL modem sucessfully, (so far this is the only thing I have done after installing XP), however when I connect to the internet, after about one minute or two, I get a dialogue box that pops up to the effetct that the computer has malfunctioned and will shut down in 60 seconds. In the box there is a reference to RPC and Win32 Generic Host, (can't translate much further, cos my german tech speak isnt too good
). I think that a patch or update is required from microsoft, but the only problem is that I cant get online long enough to do it, I am in an internet cafe at the moment) Any ideas as to how I might get the updates back to my pc?
Secondly, when I installed XP It asked me which keyboard I had, but only gave me the option of a german one. I have a Swiss-german one. The resultant is that I can't enter the "@" symbol. Can anyone tell me how to get XP to tecognise my Swiss keyboard?
Thank you in advance for your help, and here is some free advice:
Installing a foreign language version of Windows XP is inadvisable, when your knowledge of that language only extends as far as Beer, Food, and finding restaurants. (I thought to myself as I bought it "How difficult can it be?" answer: Very

Reference connecting. You may have been infected straight away by the Blaster Worm virus. see here.
Blaster Worm can be disabled in the Task Manager Processes. That will stop the countdown so you can download the MS patch and disinfect. Known variants of this worm may show up as "msblast.exe", "teekids.exe", or "penis32.exe".
Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete key combination.
Click "Task Manager" button.
Select "Processes" tab.
Highlight "msblast.exe".
Click "End Process" button, answer "Yes" to warning dialog.
Repeat previous two steps for "teekids.exe" and "penis32.exe".
Once you've done that, see here and the links on the forum linked above.
