Arsenic 31st Aug 2014 06:48

The busy season is coming to an end... Hopefully September will bring some good news... Hopefully someone gets a call soon or HR has an update for those waiting...either one will be great!!

777dreams 3rd Sep 2014 17:02

That doesn't change the fact that they don't have money for training...they have no money at all...whats gonna happen..another successful batch waiting another year...lets see what the budget has in store...

CAL hopefuls

Guys, good luck !!!.

Seamin Stains 13th Sep 2014 01:53

CAL

I have looked on with great amusement at the posts of all those youngsters who some how have deluded themselves that CAL is the only game in town.
What is even more amazing, is that most of these locals are part of the local network but don't realize that they lack two very important credentials.

1. They do not posses an Asian last name that would easily blend in with those on the present roster.
2. And they are not connected by blood or last name to those who are presently in power in Government or at the Airline. Or are the offspring of former pilots or the previous Airline.

There is a bigger wider world out there. Dont let your myopia keep you hostage to an idea that is not worth of the money you have invested in your career or the University Degree that you have worked for, and miss an opportunity to get real world Airline experience in a real airline.

Take your worth some where else, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong. Asia has more aircraft than crew, and needs pilots. And yes, they will hire young inexperienced pilots like yourself with the right attitude.

But you have to apply. So forget about these fools who in another paradigm would never be hired to do the job that they presently do,let alone be allowed near an aircraft for lack of proper education.

Get on the internet and get your applications out! they are waiting on you!!

Best Regards.
S. Stains

Thank you for that realistic post ! Even so with a degree, experience teaching flying and experience in the aviation industry it is very difficult to land one of those jobs overseas without initial experience and type rating but will persist.

Curry Goat 18th Nov 2014 02:23

Stealthy. Unfortunately, the reality is that a type rating is now a prerequisite for a lot of these low cost or some of the "eastern" airlines Stains has mentioned. We, the pilots have caused this, but it is now the norm, and we have to consider it an investment in our future (as a degree holder may further himself with a Masters). Sad but true. The alternative is to wait around for Liat or Cal to hire you and give you a free type, but that can be a very slow road or a dead end.

Staines offers some good advice, despite showing that he has chips on both shoulders in points 1 & 2. Complete drivel. When things don't go your way sometimes, you need to look inward and not blame others or lower yourself to the points of view that stains has shown. Your future is up to you, no one else.

Stick with it if this is what you want to do, and it will all work out somehow. All the best

Do you work for the airline and have experienced/seen this first hand? Or are you just regurgitating "ole talk" ('backward' unfounded gossip) that doesn't particularly help anyone.

stealth114 27th Nov 2014 22:27

Its great to see various posts and I surely am not blaming anyone for being disenchanted or jaded but there is truth in what Stains expressed whole heartedly. I dont think he has lowered himself, maybe a bit disenchanted and Im sorry to see that.

We are all creatures of circumstances and though some may have a chip on both shoulders, what he has expressed is indeed true to some matter, sad to say.

Chock to chock, you dont need to have to work for this airline to know the runnings of their hiring and operating culture attested by the experiences of many including myself here.

So , yes, I will reiterate like many here, its " who knows you, not who you know " amongst many other prerequisites to get in this sorority.

stealth114 4th Dec 2014 01:36

I think you are right on about that A330B777... When you look at the 'quality' of the person that is being chosen now for the positions at the local airline, much needs to be desire on their education, their overall make up for this career. How many of them barely got more than bare CXC's let alone taking forever to pass these elementary 'conversion' exams and yet are the ones who get hired.

It might be for my own well being that I dont have to interact with these souls let alone the ones who are at the higher ranks. It doesnt reflect very well and I have had my share of interactions with these pilots.

Curry Goat 4th Dec 2014 09:25

And there I thought that it was Stains with chips on his shoulders..........! Stealth, your post stinks of "sour grapes". Are you qualified to determine what the ideal candidate is? As many have mentioned before, get over yourself, move on and look for something else, and good luck in seeking employment with that attitude of yours.

Your uneducated friend:ugh:

stealth114 6th Dec 2014 01:16

LOL at Curry goat...there's a difference in being jaded and disenchanted which Im not but surely you feel that my posts have to be some jaded 250 hour pilot here but Im not. .... Oh why dont yo go back eating your goat because maybe thats all you probably can taste. And dont wish me luck for finding that job, already there.... Maybe you need some luck with your attitude , its the same thing with your trinis .

Curry Goat 6th Dec 2014 02:23

Not sure why you are posting on this thread, as it obvious that you hold the airline's hiring policies, intelligence of it's pilots, and Trinis in absolute disdain. Clearly you are above all of that, so maybe you should join the chats on the BA threads.

Your uneducated, goat eating, Trini friend :D

Watching CNN news with all this White lawmen killing Black men made me think, how could the US be this way in this age and time. But, from the posts here, it confirms its a world wide problem. Colored hating Colored and using nationality as a reason. We are no different from whats taking place in the US and around the rest of the world??!!!
Y'all need to find somewhere else to argue. Exchange PMs or something, but I am sure nobody wants to digest this and choose sides because one may have a point.
As some were lucky with what passport they possess, who knows you or who you know in this Industry. There are other unfortunates with dreams just like any other human being. We cant change who we are. So if there is little hope in a hand full of opportunities, its all w've got.

Opinions about attitudes is just naive. Leave that to HR at whatever company is interested in meeting you.

Let it be and move ahead in discussing prospects, and quit bickering at each other while others look for news of a shot at destiny. I believe this thread was opened for such.

777dreams 6th Dec 2014 16:37

I agree RV.

Back to topic though
