@ A330B777 It's not completely dead in the water...HR said it's on hold (can't say for how long / when they will resume the process). Good new is for those who made it to the psychometric testing, that's the phase they have stopped. Next should be sim... There's still the chance, big question is when.

Pilotins 19th Jul 2013 18:42

That's great news A330B777. After spending countless hours studying and prepping for the interview it was a little deflating when I didn't hear back from them. Hopefully they'll call us all back soon for the sim evaluation. Do you know if they're still having the sim evaluation in Miami or Trinidad? :O

Pilotins 21st Jul 2013 02:08

I hope it's Miami. A couple of my buddies who fly 737's stated that the sims in Miami are top notch. Well the most we can all do is keep flying/instructing and hope to get that call soon...:ugh:

Anyone with news regarding recruitment?

Pilotins 16th Aug 2013 16:50

CAL

I heard that HR sent out letters to the guys who completed the psychometric exams. Apparently, recruitment has been put on hold for the time being. Hopefully they'll get things organized in the coming months and resume their recruitment process. Good luck to those who got through. :ok:

ca737 17th Aug 2013 12:54

I heard they started back doing interviews this week for a couple of guys for the atr first officer :confused:

Pilotins 17th Aug 2013 17:36

CAL

If true, that could be a good or bad sign. I hope it means that they'll be calling us soon for the sim evaluations. Again, that last time I spoke to HR they ceased recruitment until further notice. I really hope they get organized soon so we can all get our dreams back on the road...:ouch:

Arsenic 23rd Aug 2013 04:14

I've heard the same regarding the letter from HR...can't say about holding interviews again. A couple friends got the letter stating it's on hold etc etc. Nice of them to send give word in that manner, didn't see that coming...

Bewel Gelespi 23rd Aug 2013 09:29

Well As far as I am also heard the same news here and it is really a good thing for my point of view just because of that if a man cannot give his 100% so he should be resign from the job.

TT scraps fuel subsidy to Caribbean Airlines
Denis Scott Chabrol
Monday, 09 September 2013

Trinidad and Tobago on Monday announced that it would be scrapping the fuel subsidy to financially troubled Caribbean Airlines from next month but air fares were not expected to rise.

The twin-island’s Finance Minister, Larry Howai, in his budget presentation to the Parliament, said the subsidy for Caribbean Airlines’ international operations would be discontinued from October 1. The fuel subsidy would remain for CAL’s domestic flights to and from Tobago.

“I’ve been assured by the Board of Caribbean Airlines Limited that the removal of the fuel subsidy will not impact the ticket-pricing policy,” he told the House.

Several Caribbean governments and regional carrier LIAT have called for the removal of the fuel subsidy to CAL, citing unfair competition. The subsidy has so far amounted to US$46.7 million.

He explained that the removal of the subsidy was incorporated into CAL’s business plan which he would receive from the Board on September 17.

The business plan, whose first phase has been completed, is expected to help CAL achieve financial viability.

Howai minutes later in his budget presentation announced that the United States-based low-cost airline, Jet Blue, would begin flying to Trinidad from July 20, 2014. The Greece-based Apollo airline is expected to begin charter flights from selected European cities to Tobago.

According to the Finance Minister, those two new services would complement West Jet’s flights between Toronto and Port of Spain and Caribbean Airlines’ services to North America.

Isn't Apollo Airlines a virtual airline set up by a couple of kids? Can't seem to find anything that indicates otherwise.

Pilotins 10th Sep 2013 14:37

I believe that Apollo Airlines is an airline in Greece who fly a few A300's.

Any word on hiring? Anyone.......:{

777dreams 20th Sep 2013 12:27

Now we wait

I read that the finance minister stated that no info will be relaesed about the new restructuring plan, for another 2 weeks.

:(:{

777dreams 1st Oct 2013 16:24

Any word guys??:ugh:

Pilotins 3rd Oct 2013 02:59

Still waiting for that call...:ugh:

BlueSkyLife 11th Oct 2013 14:55

Optimistic or Pessimistic?

Its all over the news, that Western Aviation is hungry for pilots once more. Besides that fact, the FAA moving the age limit from 60 to 65 is about ready to expire again for the old timers. Regional Airline Pilots in the US are moving to the Majors, creating a shortage in flight schools for instructors and pilots with the Regional Airline.
American Airline is looking for 1500 pilots! With that expansion and flight deck seats being empty, whats up for CARIBBEAN AIRLINES and AIR JAMAICA?:}
Fly Jamaica is hiring, and I bet those guys hired were X-CAL/X-AIR JAMAICA:D

Does that mean we will see vacancies in the very near future??:confused::hmm:

777dreams 11th Oct 2013 17:53

Vacancies

That's great news, let's hope there are available opertunities. As for cal, from the look of things, it seems as though they are resolving their problems in the financial areas first, maybe a while until we hear anything about pilots, but who knows, they haven't even unveiled their restructuring plan as yet...just hope for the best..:confused::bored:
