LAN Chile FO 2013

Hello.

I was looking for some news about LAN Chile, but all the threads are old.

What I know is that they are looking for FO's (according with LAN's web site 200h, ICAO 4 and fluency in Spanish).

Does anyone know what kind of experience do they want? Are they calling low time pilots for interview?

I'm brazilian, fluent in Spanish, ICAO and 650h (500h Lear).

Thank you

Think that the web page says everything

Type of Experience?: 200 hrs; Calling low time pilots? web page says... 200 hrs!

Being hired as an FO in a Lear with 150hrs is not that uncommon in Brazil.

I dont understand what your problems is?

That is true. In Venezuela you see it a lot too, out of the Flight School into the right seat of a jet. And not only Lear, all airlines hire people out of the school into the right seat of an MD80, 737, etc. I fly for an airline that is hiring about 20 F/O right now that have never flown after their CPL checkride. Never flown multi-engine, etc...They will be flying MD80 in a few months.

Not too long ago, a green pilot, who happened to get his commercial ticket through the grace of god, and was nicked named "Two Time Ale", because it took two check-rides to pass a certification crashed in Mexico with a mexican american singer. This kid went to FLY ACA Flight School out of Florida, where kids are sent through the proper Examiner to ensure they get through the program without proper proficiency.
This guy had 250 hrs and was flying as a copilot in a Learjet.....amazing. He couldn't maintain altitude with a Cessna 172 and was the only authorized instrument rated pilot in the cabin, since the pilot had a "VFR ONLY" restriction on his license.

Apparently hiring this year is stopped for the expats and on idle for the locals due to the fact LATAM is reprogramming and moving its fleet from Chile to Brazil. Company this year is planning to be more focused in Brazil and at least 6 B767 are going to be moved from Lan Chile to Tam. This would create some sort of excess of crew in Santiago hence hiring is logically be affected. Maybe next year with the 787 arriving hire could be back on same previous pace.

FYI,
Hiring began last week. They invited 12 pilots to take the ATP exam in Santiago. Only 6 pass the first stage of the hiring proces. 2 did not make the psychological exams and 1 did not make the interview and 3 pilots are awaiting to take the Sim evaluation. More news to come.

Do you know, if they will invite to the select process in Argentina or for expats?

Thanks!

I am looking to applying in Octoberish

I will let you know how things go...The LATAM deal obviously produced a bit of an excess of pilots for the moment. So maybe sometime next year things will be better, but as far as I know they are still on track to purchase over 80 new aircraft over the next few years.

Apparently, even though the entrance requirements are still 200Hrs minimum, few pilots are getting in, due too inexperience and immaturity (lots of 18-20 year olds), the Psychological part is still apparently the hardest part to get through.

The biggest hurdle to work for LAN is the psychological exam. The other portions of the hiring process are piece of cake. IMHO
