According to the LAN Peru website, they are only hiring Captains.

Jeje, Well lo-and-behold it does. When I posted it this morning, it clearly stated Captains so this must have been changed today. (keep in mind I'm a good 7 hours ahead of Lima)
Edit: it says LAN Chile, not LAN Peru. The link I saw earlier said Captains only at LAN Peru, I'll see if I can find it again

any info on pay and requirements for the A319 Capt spot? Or any other positions within LAN, I see one of the postings requires an Argentinian passport, would that be for LAN Arg?
Yes, for joining LAN Argentina the applicant should have Argentine Passport.
Besides, LAN Argentina has not taken any additional aircraft since last December and there are enough FO qualified for upgrade for at least three additional aircraft so I don't see the need for DEC.
Every new joiner at DSM will be at the bottom of the seniority list (227 pilots at this moment) not depending in your previous experience.
If the company needs more Captains, they would publish the requirement and depending on the seniority list and the minimum requirements (4.000 hrs TT and 1.000 hrs in jets heavier than 55 tons) DSM will grant the slots for the upgrade.

LPE hiring FO for A319/320 family. All growth in 2014 will come on that fleet.
B767 on the other hand downsizing, 4xweekly service to SFO cancelled as of 1st April.
Rumors rampant of B787 incorporating into LPE fleet late 2014. LANChile currently operating 5 B787-8 and due to receive 4 or 5 more in 2nd half 2014.
Good luck to all,
Saludos,
OW

there was an ad in a local newspaper (El Comercio) a month ago with specific application instructions. They are starting to call the selected people now to begin the testing process in about two weeks

No one knows what LAN is looking for (wants or needs). Many pilots with extensive experience were denied working with them, including myself. They do all these interviews with local newspapers and news agencies saying there is a deficit of piltos in Peru....but they won't hire locals because is not what they are looking for. I sat down with three DGAC examiners to discuss my personal case; they all agree there is something wrong; specially when LAN Peru requests waivers to hire foreigners because they "say" they can't find qualified pilots. When there are some pilots unemployed with several thousand hours in their resume. Take it for what is worth, just my two cents and my personal experience.
