Flying in honduras

Question Flying in honduras

i'm going to Honduras the end of January.
Is it possible to rent a aircraft with a Faa ATPL or do you need a local licence??

If Honduras is like any of the other Central American countries, you will need to validate your FAA license. Take license, medical and logbook, if you have a few passport sized photos handy, you may want to take them to-- just take them if you have them, don't make any unless you're told you need to because in C.A. there's plenty of opportunities to do so cheap. The DGAC headquarters would be in Tegucigalpa.

As far as rental opportunities, check yellowpages while you're there. There is a school I seem to remember in Tegucigalpa, given the size of the communities you may find one also in San Pedro and possibly La Ceiba. One thing I know the Hondurans being touchy on is overflying military bases.
