Post New airplane in the skies

Look out for a B767-300F colored White and Gray on the fuselage and with a Green/Yellow/Blue tail. ABSA has just received its brand new (1 year old fresh from the factory) airplane and operations have started last 19th with a VCP/SCL/MIA/CNF/VCP flight. Our group is made up of former TBA, TAM, Itapemirim, ABSA DC8 and BRA pilots (14 captains and 7 1st officers). Plans were laid out for a 2nd B767 for 2003 and a B747-400F for 2005. Rumors have it that the second B767 may be arriving sooner than expected (hope so...). Our callsign is ABSA CARGO ....Our routes will cover So. America to Miami from VCP, SCL, BOG, CCS, MAN and SO. AMERICA TO Europe starting with Paris CDG. This is one heck of a fine tuned group which has been working since last October helping to implement the operation, giving simulator instruction, working on the manuals, SOP and so on. Mighty glad I´m part of it and looking forward to see more friends from our ailing TBA come on board.. .Regards to all ppruners

Hello RRG,

Yep, heard about the recent ops starting with the 767-300. Sounds like a really nice outfit to fly for. I understand it's owned by the same person who holds LanChile Cargo and some other south american cargo companies. Any chance for an ex MD-11 pilot?

Take care.

Hi folks, sorry for the delay but haven´t been able to check in latelly due to work. First of all thanks Silverbird for the compliment but, yes I am brazilian. Experience with the english came from 2 years living in the US and 15 years working for PANAM in Rio as a dispatcher and 9 years flying 767 with TBA. On where to drop a resume, best way is to drop by our office in Viracopos for a chat with our Ops mngr, Capt Cancherini. Our building is near tha airport, by the Control Tower. Maddog 11 your info on the owner is almost right. ABSA belongs to a holding company run by the Coeto brothers who bought LAN CHILE from the Chilean govt. The holding also owns MAS AIR of Mexico, LAN CARGO of Chile and FLORIDA WEST in Miami, all of them flying the same brand new 767-300F. The group is pretty strong on the NYSE and I hope i stays that way.. .Aeroboero, you might have known me as 767RRC my previous nickname which timed out for lack of postings. Will try to keep this one alive.. .Regds to all

RRC,. .Thanks for the info. on Cmte Tarso. IF you should hear from him one day, tell him hello from ex. Cmra. Aline and husband from Dinamarca. I´d like to meet him again, mayby in Lisbon then. And may I humbly recommend him to your new company. Seriously though, there you´d have a great pilot and teamplayer.

Is everything coming along as you hope for with ABSA? Will I be able to see them flying when I´m off for vacation next month?

Cheers, Zico

Will tell Capt Tarso about you and Aline, if I meet him. You will probably see him first. By the way, where do you fly? On your recommendation, I know what you mean for I have logged hundreds of hours on the 737 and 767 with Capt Tarso in Transbrasil and I agree he´s on heck of a mate. Absa is doing so fine that this is the first week I get to stay with my family in Rio. Have flown more than my share the last 17 days. You may get to see us for sure at VCP and MIA (Eastern U Ramp), but if you´re passing by Bogota, Caracas, Boa Vista, Ciudad del Leste, Santiago, Salvador or some place else, you might catch us there. Our schedule calls for VCP in one end and MIA on the other. Whatever lies in between may be an intermediate stop. Regds

Hey RRC,. .I taught some groundschool in the early 90´s at the TBA ensino in Congonhas. Together with F/O 767, Treptow (retired 6-7 years ago). Was trying hard to get to fly for TBA back then, but immigration rules in the end put a stop to those dreams. (Brazilian citizenship req´d). .Today I fly for SAS (MD80/90) in my home country Denmark. Cmra Aline left TBA and ran off to Denmark with me in 93.

If I get to see your 767, it´ll be in SSA. I´ll be passing by there next month, going from GRU to NAT on vacation.

Have fun. . .Rgds Zico
