Jumpseating around South America

Hi ladies and Gents,

I'm currently in Rio and was wondering if it is possible for me to jumpseat around South America. I have my license and Crew ID with me.

If it is possible, how do I do it?

If it involves taking my bags to the aircraft, would it be possible to take a kitesurfing bag?

Thanks for your help!

Probably very unlikely, as it is not common practice with Latin American carriers. Best bet is to change locations via Miami or Houson if you are eligible for US jumpseats. It's a bit of a detour.

It would depend on if you know anyone in the company more than anything else (at least in Brazil), but even then it isn't very common. Jumpseats are usually occupied by commuting crew on domestic flights, and it's hand luggage only.

You could ask your airline to contact one of the carriers here, depending on the alliance or code shares you might have some success that way.

No can do, on any of the LAN carriers anyway. You have to either be an employee or family of crew to be eligible for jumpseat priviliges.

In brazil try the air cargo guys

Just go to the security guy near the C door, and ask when the cargo pilots come for flying, wait there and present to the captain and he may give you a ride, but there to board in the same moment

Hope i was there again by this time of the year, oh carnaval....

In Argentina you can try but you will depend on the mood of the captain and that no other employee is there first.

Can the captain add one more person to the Gen Dec? Is so simple?
I donīt think one has the authority to add more persons to a flight...

Wouldn't it just be easier to get yourself some ID90's or ZED tickets?
