What is the real situation with flight to Falklands/Malvinas

When I was in the Falklands in August/September I heard that LAN wanted a second weekly frequency from Punta Arenas (PUQ) but that it was being blocked by Argentina. LAN Saturday flights to Mount Pleasant were said to be averaging over 80% occupancy.

Would anyone from the Plate or Chile have insights as to whether a second frequency might be allowed in the near future - or any other practical thoughts on the issue? PM me if preferred.
