Anyone know if a South African CAA licence is accepted for local carriers in Belize like Tropic Air? Or do you have to convert to the US FAA licence first?

Any pointers.....Much appreciated

no need to convert to FAA license. the Belize CAD will issue a 'validation' to any ICAO license - you just have to write an air law exam.

And, if my experiences in getting my UK (CAA) PPL validated in Belize in 2003 still hold true, prepare to try and blag one of two copies in the country of the 1977 ANO to get your revision done!

I kid you not, the Belize CAA use the 1977 ANO still. When I asked why they said "'cos that's what we've always done!"

Good luck
