"ALBA" Airlines

I read today in La Prensa (Nicaragua), that the member states of the Alternativa Bolivariana para las Américas (Alba), including Nicaragua, are planning to create an airline, according to officials in Caracas.

The plan includes improving airlines like Cuba's Cubana de Aviación and Venezuela's Conviasa, and creating similar companies in Bolivia and Nicaragua, where there is currently a void.

The new airline would become a network with a scale that allows service to a multitude of destinations which no one airline can cover.

In addition, the Nicaraguan Government is planning to construct an new international airport on it's Caribbean coast. The cost is estimated to be around C$ 350 million córdobas (approximately $19 million USD).
