Any news on when the new airport will open?

Everything I have seen says October 2004. Given that that is come and gone, who could say? Looking at the amount of work needed, I think their time scale was extremely optimistic. I've seen pics of a completed terminal and helipad, but the runway was still a rocky mud-strewn mess. I also hear dark rumours of money disappearing...

The new Montserrat airport could be ready by March 2005 - at the earliest.

If they're lucky and it doesn't rain again. The hillside at the western end falls away each time. Looking more like May ?????

WM(Winair) sent a DHC6 down to make some simulated approaches into Geralds Airport to get familiar with the surounding terrain and approach, we intend to make more proving runs once the runway is paved and open for fixed wing ops.
