Southern Winds acquires MD-11s
According to Amalgama and Southern Winds, Southern Winds announced plans to acquire four MD-11 aircraft for flights to Rome and Mexico. Does anyone know where these planes are coming from?

Los nuevos aviones, que serán incorporados a razón de uno por mes, se sumarán a la flota Boeing de Southern Winds, con la que cubre 20 destinos en Argentina, con el modelo B-737, as' como Madrid y Miami, con el modelo B-767.

Sorry, it wasn't meant to push you in any way, that's why I put the summary in English at the top. Believe me, Spanish isn't my native tongue, so I am more than happy to provide English translations. Well, it wasn't a rumor but the deal is dead. GECAS was the lessor for the MD-11s, all ex-Swiss. They asked A4 to pony up the route authorities for MEX and FCO. The Mexican gov't had approved A4's service, but the Argentine gov't hadn't. This was breach under the leasing terms and GECAS canceled the contract. Argentina has since given the route authority to AR; they plan to fly to MEX with an A-310 and a tech stop in ACA on the way back.
As for A4 and Miami, I understand they dropped it. It was only once per week and the return sector (MIA-EZE) was a daylight flight, not too popular. The two 767s that were leased from Air Atlanta were sold to LanChile and A4 took on a LV- registered 763, which they cannot operate to Miami. Hence another good reason to drop Miami. That leaves Madrid with four weekly flights with the sole 763.
