Southern Winds buying LAN???
"Southern Winds confirmó haberse interesado por comprar LanChile, pero la argentina de aviación negó que la adquisición fuera inminente."
So, before a translation is requested, this one from wsj/americas basically states that: Southern Winds confirmed having been interested into buying LanChile, but the argentinian aviation (co.) denied that adquisition was inminent.
Any coments???

translation is correct, but this does not make sense at all, it's pure madness.
How can a small airline buy a powerful airline like LAN? impossible. It'd be something like AirTran buying American Airlines....

A number of years ago in Canada, Pacific Western Airlines, a national carrier operating a fleet of Boeing 737-200's took over Canadian Pacific Airlines, a much larger international carrier operating a fleet of Boeing 747's, DC-10's, Boeing 767's and Boeing 737's. Small fish eats big fish.
Yet, I am surprised to read this also.

Can't believe this one went like that without any more input...
It sounds like a rumour, but I guess this is the place to confirm, and the source is a reliable one, being the WSJ...
Any comments from anyone in Chile or Argentina???
Come on, say it!!!

I am a pilot from Argentina with no work, SW has been in bankrupcy for seberal years now, it has joined with another two airlines in the same circunstances DINAR and LAPA and now they are being operated by the goverment, so forget it, maybe if you told me aerolineas argentinas that would at least make sense.

There is no way in he11 that SW could buy Lan Chile... They can barely afford to keep on flying (or at least this is what they have been telling to the employees during their short existence )
Lan Chile is owned by one of the richest families in Chile, they have gone through a major corporate image change a few years ago, it part of one of the major alliances, and it could be said, that it is one of the few airlines that is prepared for the changes in the industry during the 21st century...
As far as SW is concerned, it is a quite young company, with no corporate identity, with debilitated pilot corps, and mistreated employees. I mean to say, there are other issues apart from money...
Southern Winds constantly lie to its pilots, asking credit on their expectations, to avoid them leaving. Very poor strategy...
You do the math... We are not even talking the same league.
