Canadian qualification

I am an ex Fighter pilot, commercial pilot with ICAO ALTP, Instructional experience and FCGTI, Saudi Arabian Airlines. Looking for a teaching job in flight club, aviation university or airlines in Canada. Unable to get any job as Canadian qualification or experience is required. I need an experienced Canadian guide to walk me through an exam and sim instructor qualification.

Unlike other jurisdictions, there is no such rating as the TRI/TRE in Canada. Organizations such as FlightSafety and CAE will provide the requisite training to run their simulators if you were hired by them or hired by a company that leases their simulators. However, those courses only cover the safety features and software installed in the simulator. Subjects such as instructional techniques, grading, and debriefing strategies are taught by the company through a train-the-trainer program. There are airlines who hire contract instructors, and in those cases you are often expected to outline your previous instructional history, for example you might be asked to outline how many hours you have teaching in a simulator or classroom. So that handles the instructor qualifications part.

As for walking you through an exam, you're better to go to a flight school and ask them to help you transfer your licenses. Your profile says Milton, Ontario, so Spectrum Airways at Burlington Air Park is your closest school. I transfered my New Zealand licenses with them back in '07. They've got good facilities, well maintained aircraft, and are close enough to major airports that you can get all your work done, but far enough from those airports that their airspace restrictions don't become an obstacle. Their training area is also within about 5 minutes of the airport itself, so you're not spending half the flight flying to the box and back. There are other schools in the area too, such as Brampton Flying Club, Flight6ix in Guelph, Waterloo/Wellington Flight Centre in Kitchener, and Golden Horseshoe Aviation in Hamilton. I suggest you go to the schools because there are very specific requirements that must be met when transferring a license, and doing it on your own, while doable, can become costly if you simply assume that you'll meet the requirements.

Finally, there are other threads that already discuss what resources you'll need to study for the Canadian exams. Consider reading this one.

Hi zahidhmalik,
Good advice above.
You need to start with the basics, A Canadian Transport Canada Medical,
Licence conversion,
If you come to Canada on a short term contract, say up to six months
you can have your employer get you a Foreign Licence Validation

If you hold FAA ATP and CFI then you can avoid a flight test for the CPL or ATP
but still require instructor rating training, exams and flight test.
If you have 750 Hours abinitio instructing logged, you can
apply for a class 3 Flight Instructor rating (with a flight test)
instead of a Class 4
which means you can instruct without direct supervision.

As you mention "flying club" you will need to go the longer process of
Written Exams and flight test to convert your Commercial which is easier than an ATPL
which you don't need to instruct.

Instructing will require a written exam , and if you hold a foreign instructor rating it cuts the
training requirement "minimums" in about half

Take a read of

Similar rules apply to your instrument rating.

I was impressed with the exhaustive reply to my query. Thanks a lot for taking time to enlighten me. I will contact the schools nearby and follow up with them. Regards.

You have a lot of flying and airline experience which is good. I know someone with similar experience to yours who is successfully instructing on simulators. Which type ratings do you have?
