Connect Airlines-Canadian DHC-8 Pilots ?

Since no one took the bait on this matter in the US forum, I'll try here. Start-up, Connect Airlines, has in recent times said they'd hire both American and Canadian pilots. So far, I see only ads for American pilots. I checked AVCANADA for any info but didn't find it. So, has Connect Airlines (Waltzing Matilda Aviation) advertised for Canadians ?:

“There is currently a shortage of pilots [overall], but we’re addressing this by being able to hire both US and Canadians.”

First I've heard of it.

Yes, it appears to be a closely-held secret. :)

They are advertising on the USA side of things and have recently added $48K in sign-on and retention bonuses. That must be a sign of something ?

I see Summit Air looking for DHC-8 crews and assume any Canadians who might be willing and able would choose Summit over a start-up operation.

First I've heard of Connect Airlines but a web search shows that the corporate headquarters is located in Bedford (Boston) so not really a Canadian airline

Correct but as said in the article linked in post #1, they made the statement they might hire both Canadian and American pilots. I just wondered what became of that potential wrinkle particularly in light of the recent addition of sign-on/retention bonuses to their job ads. It suggests some difficulty in finding Americans when they have to throw more money in the deal. I thought perhaps that would prompt some ads for Canadians. I guess not.

Bafanguy, I understood what you suggested, just not sure a US Registered company can hire Canadians to work in the US time for an immigration lawyer to jump in.

Beats the heck outta me. But if the Canadian pilots were living in Canada...and only flying in/out of the USA? Time for an immigration lawyer indeed.

IIRC, Delta hired foreign nationals as F/As in both Europe and Asia.

You'd expect the management of Connect Airlines to have done enough homework to know if they could or couldn't hire Canadians before making that statement.

This latest iteration of what I assume is a Connect Airlines ad may shed a little light on the Canadian issue (or for now at least). Can E3 visas be far behind ?:

“You must have the right to work and live in the USA. If you have applied for your USA Green Card, you can go ahead and apply now! If you want to apply for your Green Card to apply for the job, please hit APPLY NOW!”

Latest wrinkle from Connect Airlines (Waltzing Matilda Aviation) and their DHC-8 recruiting. This is the first mention I've seen that they're accepting Canadian licenses:

Base: PHL or ORD

“Airline Transport Pilot Certificate Multi-Engine Land (Transport Canada or FAA)”
