Paper work. It will get ya every time. Accidents aside, if you cant produce a clear and detailed paper trail (so to speak) the authority will have no choice but to ping you. Dam fool mistake to make.

Suspension won't last long. These guys have been doing what they're good at for decades. A few signatures and they'll be airborne again.

From what i have seen on the programme they are a lifeline to the communities up there. There will be a lot of impetus to get them back online. Agree with AirUK - a few slapped wrists, hoops to jump through and back in the air.

TV programmes are edited to be sensational and entertaining rather than reflect reality, but the TV series didn't make them look remotely professional. I hope they were much better in reality than the programme made them appear.

What I find ironic about this action by TC is when they had a series of gear up ladings in their own fleet, { all pilot "finger trouble"}along with the department head of the heavy air carier department mis- managing the fuel on a King Air, {good God, how does one "mismage "fuel on a King Air?!!!!} there was no suspension of their OC and the pilots punishment consisted of three weeks suspension WITH PAY! The fact is that Buffalo has to fly in some of the toughest parts of Canada and does so every day, whereas we never see TC flying when the whole East goes flat in spite of the forecasts saying otherwise, a daily ocurance in the North, nor do we see them on contaminated runways, it seems there are two standards at work here," us and them". Another discusion altogether but why does TC even have a fleet of aircraft? Private contractors could do it much cheaper and safer. Jo may have sinned, but lets keep the playing field level!

Really? That's where you're going to set the bar for regulatory intervention: by asking how many people an operator has killed?

Let's try looking at the other side of that particular coin. In your opinion, how many passengers should die before a regulator may appropriately intervene and enforce the same regulations and standards that other operators must meet? Without of course being second-guessed to death by folks with a widely-publicized axe to grind? :=

You must have a comprehension problem, I asked a question that relates to the degree of risk Buffalo represents to the traveling public.

What does that have to do with grinding axes?

An operator has an OC suspended. Presumably they did not meet the standard set by the regulator.

But since said regulator doesn't fly on the east coast when it's flat the regulator can't suspend the OC?

Since neither the regulator nor Buffalo don't fly on the east coast when it's flat the OC should not have been suspended?

Help me out here.

If Clunck's point was that the regulator should be subject to its own regulations, I have no argument with that. And contracting out the work that TC's fleet does may very well make sense, but as he said, that's a separate topic.

Now, since you seem to have a comprehension problem of your own, how about you try answering my question instead of deflecting it? How many passengers, in your world, need to die before a regulator should intervene? *Hint*: the only correct answer is zero.

What an industry, Air France can kill a whole plane full of pasengers due to a simple airspeed failure, along with an F/O who lacked the fundimentals of flying skills{ airspeed failure was a common problem when we first got the 320} go of the end in Toronto, crash of a Concorde with total chaos in the flight deck, and nobody calls them "clowns" or lifts their OC, but if a small bush outfit dares to belly a DC3/C46 in due to multiple failures {featherig pump on top of engine failure} by skill {and a bit of luck} they harm nobody then those who have never flown the North or these aircraft feel free to slag them as "clowns" whilst omiting that the likes of Air France who are in the top three of pasenger fatalities amougst heavy air cariers . As I said before, Joe may have sinned, but I suspect their major sin is poor paperwok, not bad piloting or maintanence.
