That's how he got all that liver damage by age 34. The same thing killed my father but at 73.

Help a Drinker!
I think some of us have to apologize to the Metro for thinking it was at fault.
A good aircraft if flown and maintained properly. I was riveted to the report yesterday and can only compare this with some old war story from the Cold war when Wet Debrief was the standard and living on the edge was a fact. But there ends the similarities! Pilots did not drink alone in the Military. There is not to many out there of this caliber, but we all know one or know of one. Approach them, and help them. It is an illness, they need help. |
Absolutely, and when you're reluctant to have that difficult conversation, imagine that it's one of your loved ones who will be on board for that person's next flight. Knowing that, would you intervene?
It's also important to know that your offer of help is only as good as the person's willingness to get help. For some, they find rock bottom and live to see another day. For others, rock bottom ends tragically - as this one did. |
Anybody want to shoot me an email, i have a pic germane to the topic, but no photobucket account

If it is what it seems, i.e. he was drinking heavily before flight, I would piss on his  grave; what he did is near enough to murder as makes no difference.
