What's the story with Avcanada and Culhane?
Whenever anyone mentions the word "Culhane" on Avcanada it gets replaced with *******. What's the story behind that - anyone know? He's the author of a good albeit somewhat overpriced set of study books for the canadian exams (particularly overpriced considering much of the content is taken directly from Transport Canada's free publications).
He's also a lawyer which got me curious - I googled his name and the second hit was a detailed story of how he went to great lengths to put his competition out of business through the court system - he clearly doesn't like a competitive marketplace. I've always found his books quite well written, although the question-and-answer books contained a lot of errors - not good when you're trying to learn something. I'm just puzzled why avcanada won't even allow his name to be mentioned. Any clues? |

Another odd quirk is that Avcanada will not permit some names to be mentioned even in a positive light. I used Culhane’s book back in the last century for the ATPL exams. It was all I used and more than sufficient. I am a satisfied customer of Mr. Culhane. |
There are no names censored on AvCanada because they got too much positive input from the membership there.

Well, I have heard from different people about Avcanada, and I was told that this website has been hijaked by few mod and posters.
Cannot say for sure, don' t quote me. |
If I remember correctly, the complete censoring of the name was at the request of the person in question.
I will leave it as am exercise for the reader to figure out why someone with such a satisfied customer base would request that no comments be made by them about his stellar and eminently correct products in a public forum. |
