Hour building in Canada? I'm stuck!!!
Hi!
I really want to come to Canada, during the summer months for some time building! The only thing is seeing ive never been to Canada before I dont know where the best places are!
Could someone recommend any good cities/areas to fly out of that will give me good weather and some good scenery, at an affordable price in terms of aircraft costs and accomadation!!

There's a guy that posts on here from time to time named Code Blue. He used to be afilliated with a flight school in Gander NF (CYQX) so he can probably help. Get his info from the members list and pm him.

Personally recommend British Columbia (Vancouver) Stunning scenery and you can get to try out some mountain flying too...

Have a look at the Calgary Flying Club. In the summer the weather is usually great for flying. Calgary isn't too expensive to live in either.

In the Toronto area, there are plenty of places to choose from. Try Toronto Airways, Island Air, the Brampton Flying Club,
Aviation Internation Canada, the Brantford Flight Centre, Spectrum Airways, and the Canadian Flight Academy
I have no personal experience of Harv's Air in Manitoba, but it seems like a cheap option. If I wanted to build time in my logbook, that 7ECA sounds like a good way to do it ($86 per hour is hard to beat, and a Citabria is a real airplane).

I don't recommend going to Island Air at the Toronto City Centre Airport (CYTZ). Check out the other school at CYTZ, www.airlinetraining.net. They have a mostly brand new C-172 fleet and they keep it in real good shape. They are also a lot bigger in size than Island Air. Toronto Airways at Toronto Buttonville (CYKZ) is another big school that is ok but their fleet is pretty old. Toronto City Centre is located right in downtown (south, on the lake) and it gives you a real good view of the city, especially at night.

Many thanks guys for all your replies. I think I'm a step nearer. I've now decided that I will be going to Vancouver. Does anyone know any good online directories that show all the flying schools in BC so I can narrow the search further???!!
Also whats a sensible rate to pay for a C152 and PA28 (wet)?? Just so I know I'm not being ripped off!!

At Boundary Bay (CZBB) near Vancouver you can expect to pay 85/hour wet on a 152 and 97/hour wet for a PA 28-140. The warrior and 172's generally cost 102-106/hour wet.

Assuming that Mark's Cherokees are in decent shape, I think that you would be hard-pressed to beat his price of C$75 per hour (wet).
I assume that the above includes insurance, but if not you will need to factor in an additional amount to ensure that you are really comparing apples to apples. It is standard in Canada for rental prices to include both liability and hull insurance, possibly with a small surcharge if the renter wishes to be exempt from the deductible in the event of a subsequent claim.
