Type rating abroad

Dear all,
How would Transport Canada recognize a type rating course taken abroad in a TRTO in say Asia ?
Any chance to add it on to my TC ATP license ?
Many thanks !

How Transport Canada does things is often a million dollar question and why people make a lot of money as contractors.

But, as always the CARS and Google can be your friend:

Foreign Applicants are nearer the bottom, after the DND applicants. Only you can answer whether you meet the specific requirements as laid out, so perhaps a call or visit to your local office is in hand (call first, as some are appointment only now).

I was in the same boat regarding a type rating abroad. Im a TC-CPL MIFR holder too. I contacted the TC Toronto office and they replied with the following requirements:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the type rating is not on your foreign licence and training completed outside of Canada:

Upon completion of your Type Rating Training and PPC, you and the Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO) should provide the following documentation:
  • Copies of the training program along with your training records.
  • Proof that the training pilot is qualified to provide the type rating training. (A letter from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) or the Training Organization)
  • A copy of the PPC.
  • Proof that the examiner was authorized to conduct the PPC for the State. (A letter from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) or the Training Organization).
  • A letter from the examiner stating that had you held a Pilot Certificate of the State where you completed the training, you would have been issued the type rating applied for. The wording should be as follows:
Mr. (Name of Applicant) has successfully completed the training program and Pilot Proficiency Check for the (Name of aircraft type) type rating. Mr. (Name of Applicant) would have been issued the (Name of aircraft type) type rating had we been able to endorse the Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence.
  • Complete the Flight Crew Permit/Licence-Application for Endorsement of a Rating - Parts A & B (type rating section)
  • A $30 fee is required either in the form of a cheque, made payable to: "Receiver General for Canada", or via credit card by calling our Finance Branch at 1-877-250-4888. Please include your pilot licence number in both cases.
