A truly classic home-built design, the BD-4 is known to have poor hands-off stability, and poor slow flight control response. Depending upon engine installation and seating capacity, the stall speed can be as high as 66 mph (58 knots). The benign looking high-wing can cruise at 170 knots and has a 750 nm range. The BD-4 is similar to the even faster Wittman Tailwind.
