Canadian Regulators
I'm alway mystified how things get so complicated and regulators in Canada insist in trying to reinvent the wheel. ICAO has standards accepted world wide yet Canada seems to ignore this and produce some of the most complex and convoluted regulations - now it seems the FDT amendments are going down the same path - 703 is the worst and should receive the largest impact yet carriers with total disregard to safety and science based evidence that fatigue can kill or at the very least cause safety incidents lobbies to keep, for the most part, young and entry level pilots along with more experienced in harm's way under 703 ops. -- 704/705 also needs tweeking - not all pilot groups have the luxury of a collective agreement to enhance the basic rules.
Transport is also playing ostrich by issuing ops specs which is another loaded gun waiting to explode -- time for some very simple and straight forward rules --
I know the invincibility of youth -- been there done that -- doesn't mean it's right or smart --

Good topic L.C.
You should join the new Canadian forum where you do not have to be P.C. and are allowed to discuss these issues without being culled ...
There are quite a few of us there and so far no one needs moderation.
