"No aircraft has ever been dispatched without being in optimal airworthy condition," Air Transat said.
The spokesperson responsible for that statement must be new

Maybe he was just speaking the truth about AT's aircraft.

The omission of certain non-technical aspects of the AME training programme never posed an increased risk to the travelling public.

The article specifies "non-technical training" - so I'm guessing something along the lines of WHMIS, SMS, Accessabilities training - something along those lines...you know, all those training items that employees of any industry drag their feet over.

"Safety is our top priority and our flight operations are safe. No aircraft has ever been dispatched without being in optimal airworthy condition," Air Transat said.

I an guessing that this spokesperson was not employed when the TS236 landed in the Azores. They would have found maybe a thing or two unsafe about that flight...

IMHO
