Australian Pilots in Canada
Hi folks,
I know this has probably been done to oblivion on here, so forgive me.
I've recently obtained my Recreational Pilot Licence in Australia, and I'm slowly working towards my CPL, which I should achieve by the end of next year, at 22, after I graduate uni.
There's an allure about Canada that makes me want to uproot from Australia and start a new life over there, citizenship and everything.
I have a few questions - and yes, I have read both ramjet555 and justagigolo77's thoughts on the matter. If they want to contribute, go right ahead fellas.
1. What is the job market like for foreigners in Canada? I'm willing to go wherever and do whatever it takes if it means I get into the cockpit. For those Canadians apprehensive of foreign pilots, I'm pondering becoming a citizen in the future - if that takes some apprehension away. I've always wanted to go and I've got no doubt I'll love it there. There's something about the cold weather and the scenery that makes me want to get on the first plane to Vancouver, right now, even though I can't yet.
2. Is it worth getting a float rating? If so, would I be better off doing it in Australia, or wait until I'm over in Canada?
3. When is the best time to go and look for jobs? Is it the same as in Australia - load up the car and doorknock until you get a yes?
4. What operators would look at foreign pilots with pretty much a fresh CPL and an ME CIR? I don't care what province I have to go to, so I'm completely flexible.
5. Are the people as nice as rumour says they are? I won't be going for a couple of years, but any advice at all, would be helpful. I intend on doing everything in my power to make this work.
Cheers guys Again, I know this has been done to death, so thanks for any, and all, responses.

Alex, there is a pretty extensive thread about this here http://www.pprune.org/canada/539328-...ng-canada.html
I suggest having a good read and asking in there.
