I see no one has answered so I will throw you a bone. The requirements are different in Canada from the USA for seaplane rating. The rating is not transferrable (at least at the basic level, I can't speak to after flying floats for 20-30+ hrs) between TC and FAA and vice versa because of the difference in requirements.
The Canadian float rating is 7 hrs of which only 1hr needs to be solo circuits. In the 7 hrs, you need to cover, normal t/o and land, x-wind t/o and land, rough water, glassy water, taxiing, sailing, docking, and a short x-country landing at a different lake. I don't think I have left anything out but stand to be corrected.
Getting a float rating in Canada can generally be done in the south from April to November and in the north from June to end of September. On the west coast, in some places it can be year round.
Hope that helps
