Hi all
Good thread - rather than start a new one I thought I would jump in here and ask what the job market is like for someone with 2500 hours, ICAO CPL, and 1200 hours PIC on the C208B?
Heading to Vancouver later this year and will be knocking on doors - Canadian work permit sorted out hence no need for labor market opinion etc...
Any ideas?

So to clarify...Nz to Faa to Canada is not ok or ok?
Depends how you do it. From what I can tell you can get an FAA licence off your New Zealand licence basically by filling in a few forms and rocking up with your New Zealand licence as proof. However this only gets you an FAA Temporary Airman Certificate.
From this point to get a stand alone FAA licence, without the words 'issued on the basis of a foreign licence' printed all over it, you would need to do an FAA CPL written exam and skills test. I'm 95% sure you could then use that to do the FAA to TC conversion.
Like you say it's probably easier and cheaper just to go straight for the TC.

I meant no criticism asking why move from NZ, just seems like a damn fine country but hey I love Canuck land and you're welcome to join us. Best of luck in securing a decent cockpit.

Cheers Corax..you should come to NZ. Canada is a hard decision. Canada or Australia ? Both have very big draw cards and long-term career implications.
