possible emergency at YVR (firetrucks?) 904pm
my friend who lives in a condo near YVR says there's lots of yellow flashing lights there now.
he is not a plane hobbyist so he has no idea whats going on.
edit - he says they're leaving now. so it was a minor emergency, whatever it was.

I would assume it's the Vancouver Olympic committee practising shutting down the airport so that no media can get in to see that there is no snow. Apparently they are considering painting all the mountains white.

If your friend is still interested, here's the deal:
"An Air Canada Boeing 767-300, registration C-GHPF performing flight AC-43 from Calgary,AB (Canada) to Kahului,HI (USA), was enroute at FL340 about 600nm westsouthwest of Vancouver,BC (Canada), when the crew reported a hydraulics leak and turned around declaring emergency on approach to Vancouver. The airplane landed safely in Vancouver about 2 hours after turning around."
