SEP Float Plane hours recognised for CPL???

Hello all.

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong forum but I couldn't find one dedicated to seaplanes.

My question is:

Can I do half of my hour building in a float plane, and those hours recognised by the good old CAA (realise it is FAA here in Canada) toward the issue of a JAA CPl? I have intentions to become a float pilot in Alaska after instructing (land) here in the UK.

Also:

What are the minimum requirements to be a float pilot under the FAA?

Thanks.

187.

The FAA has nothing to do with Canada.

An airplane is an airplane. Of course you can log it.

In Canada you only need the basic 7 hour float rating. That being said, many insurance companies may require more time for a commercial operator. As you want to fly in Alaska you may want to repost in the North America forum. The yanks may have different rules then us.
Good Luck!

As mentioned FAA and TC (transport Canada) are not the same.

A canadian Seaplane rating is 7 hrs. No written and no Flight test just do the time and get signed off by an instructor.

Yes your time will count towards your time building.

Best rate I've seen for a very well maintained and equiped 182 amphib is $175/hr wet Canadian dollars. It available in Canada during the spring, summer, fall and the Caribbean in the winters.

Send me a PM if you want details.
