HI! I am 737 copilot having 3000hrs tt and looking into emigrating to Canada. Would appreciate if any info regarding job prospects in Canada on 737s or 727s is forwarded. Many thanks. How would a landed emigrants position as far as jobs are concerned? Many thanks for the help.

Try WestJet of Calgary('37-200) or Canjet of Halifax,Nova scotia.Both hiring at present,try Air Canada(just starting it's 'cheap'carrier,737-200)

Hi,
Fellow Brit here and have jumped through a lot of the immigration hoops already.
Just remember its still going to take you up to 2 years to get permanent residency in Canada so the whole market will be be completely different by then.
It used to be a quick process but that has all changed. It takes a Brit just as long to get residency as anyone else in the world. Yes you can speed it up (a bit)by getting Provincial Nomination but you need a job offer to do that.....and you can't get a job offer until you are entitled to work (spot the decreasing circle).
Sending CVs to anyone in Canada without having the right to work in place will be a waste of time.
Sorry to dissapoint but it just ain't that easy.
I know what your thinking..."I'll get a work permit whilst waiting for the residency paperwork". Forget it! You won't get a positive labour market opinion from HRDC Canada as there are plenty of Canadians on the market who could do the job.
Of course, if you have dual Nationality or a Canadian wife then please ignore all of the above and best of Luck!!!!!!
Airshow in Canada next week, perhaps that is where I will meet my future passport (ergh I mean loving wife!!!!)

I immigrated here myself 2.5 years ago and got lucky to get it in 8 months.
On the other hand my buddy, from england had to wait 2 years and he had a letter of employement, believe it or not.
I know another guys who had a letter of employment nad had to wait over a year.
As far as the market is, it is saturated with pilots right now, but it is starting to pick up. If you are at the right place .... you might get something.
Don't waste your time sending resume, you would be wasting money in postage, I sent about 200 resume in the past 1.5 and got 5 responses.
Sure i only have 2000h but how much do you want for an FO on a Caravan or PC12.
It is a joke here..With jet time and 3000 you will be a little more lucky.
Westjet is a good company but they wnat more than 3000 h and it is hard to get in without an internal reference.
for the 27 there is also a company called Cargojet, they take type rated pilot, and have been hiring a bit, thry their website.
Also Ace fly 27 out of toronto and Hamilton, but they were not doing too good before the winter??

You would be better off going to China and booking yourself a trip to Canada in a sea container illegaly. You would probably get a residence visa in no time, that is if you survive the trip.

I hate to be blunt, but....
With the present state of aviation in Canada, unless you were to immigrate, it's most unlikely you'd be welcomed here in the first place. It's preposterous that some of these transparent 'nice guys' (suggesting you apply to WJ) would pour out such drivel when the truth is there simply aren't any decent pilot jobs in Canada. Full stop!
If you follow the West Jet postings, on numerous occasions you will read that it takes a personal reference to get into West Jet and unless you are one of those who.......
Let's be honest, if you don't have a CDN ATPL with the right to work and live here, you'd more than likely be wasting your time. (Sound familiar?)
So, why they would want to give you false hope is beyond me.
I can assure you that we Canadian pilots are no less passionate about preserving our pilot jobs for Canadians than is any other pilot group anywhere else in the world.
Speaking from experience, Canadian pilots end up in overseas jobs with 'reluctant' employers who'd much rather employ "local" talent. Which is understandable. Their reality is simply that they don't have equivalent levels of experince in their "local" pilot pool that we have in Canada, The U.S., Or the UK, Or Australia, Or NZ, etc., etc., or they wouldn't be hiring us. (That's not ego my friend, that's reality.)
All things being equal. I'd say you're welcome to jump into the pilot pool over here. But all things in the pilot pool, world wide, aren't equal, are they?
(eg: RBA = CAA or NZ Licence only. Doesn't sound too 'equal' to me?)
In Europe it's simply JAA Licence, Right of abode, etc. otherwise, "on your bike!" Again, that doesn't sound too equal to me.
Don't even try to explain Austria or Belgium, who's policies toward the hiring of Foreign pilots are quite understandable. But, again, that doesn't sound too equal to me.
I think the reality for most Canadian Pilots on this forum, who wish to remain at home, and try as they may to land a decent flying job with a Canadian Carrier flying respectable equipment would honestly fess up to the fact that we simply don't want foreign pilots taking what little scraps there are. It's competative enough. Pilots in this country with Boeing and Airbus Type Ratings and 10,000 hours plus are plentiful and make it difficult for the hundreds of 3,000 hour guys and gals trying to land their first big flying job.
That said, since you're looking at immigrating, settling here, and obtaining a Canadian Licence, etc., by all means, have a go!!! This country is huge and we have lots of room for you to join us. Who knows? Maybe by the time you've jumped through all those hoops, the airline industry here won't be as terminally ill as it is.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your job hunt but I really don't see Canada fitting into your plans very well.
