alapt, the 580 belonged to SEBJ. The weather was lousy and rumor has it he landed with one MLG off the runway, on the shoulder. I think it was at LG4. Capt. initials JGD, mean anything? Nobody hurt, and apparently little damage to the aircraft.

Yes, a Convair 580 was lost at LG4 last week. No one hurt except a few minor injuries when evacuating through the window emergency exits since the main and service doors were unsuable. The aircraft landed right down the center of the runway (I saw the traces in the snow about 2 hours afterward) and then "veered" to the right side into the bush. Damage was considerable and I'm afraid to say it was her last flight. Captain and FO must have a combined total of over 25 000 hours, half of those on Convairs, and fly into LG4 as often as they drive into their own driveways. Weather was not that bad and winds were almost negligible.
