Hope for a foreigner?

What hope is there for someone like me (no family ties in Canada- although a few friends there) getting through the immigration procedures?
I'm looking into leaving the UK at the first available opportunity, and doing my training in Canada. Hopefully finding a job after that, preferably air taxi/ corporate sector although anything would do.
What are the prospects for a Englisher like me doing this succesfully?

Hello mate,
You can automatically qualify for a 1 year restricted work visa as a flying instructor if have done all of your CPL and Instructor Rating in Canada. They even restrict you to the employer! But hey, still getting paid whilst chalking up the hours flying in an excellent aviation system.
I know a mate who managed to get a job offer of charter flying upon completion of his training from the training provider (they operated the said A/C within the group). Guess what? Whilst he was still in England!! The catch was that he will be unpaid like all the F/O's on these A/C. Second catch was hiring an Immigration Lawyer at some cost to argue the case with Immigration Canada, however the lawyer is confident that he will succeed.
So all in all if you want to live and work here; other than only Instructing for 1 year; then it's not too rosy. The fellow I mentioned earlier is an exception! If you are determined to still move to Canada then the best thing would be to Apply for 'Landed Immigrant' status while you are in the UK. There is a requirement which states that you apply and be successful prior to entering Canada.
Compared to the UK, US and Europe the employment opportunities aren't too rosy, I think Canada has the worlds biggest pool of UNEMPLOYED professional pilots. More the case of who you know than what you know! That said quite a number of Canadian trained guys move to fly in the Caribbean, Middle and the Far East as the training is highly respected. Emirates only used to hire Canadian, UK or NZ trained guys before the shortages struck!
If you want any more info, then e-mail me.
Regards.

Thank you for that info, JG.
I appreciate that the job situation is not too good. What I'd really like to do is some adventurous stuff like flying floats in the Yukon. However from the sounds of it, my chances are considerably worse than someone who has lived there all their life!
Although I would like to work in Canada, it is not the only place I have considered. what is most important to me at the moment is just leaving this country at the first available oppertunity.
