Just by curiosity, what is the average age, of those just hired in the majors here in Canada?Ive seen an article in a Canadian, mag. where the chief pilot at Air Canada doesn't want to hire young pilots ( age 21 to 30) anymore, says they are not mature enough and could be a risk to the airline. He claimed sometimes young pilots sometimes are not sure of knowing what they want and sometimes they leave after the airline has invested alot of $$ in the new recruit.Personaly I think they must be on some sort of illegal narcotics. But the fact remains , he wants to hire pilots that are in their early 30's.He also explaned that those pilots are the ones with a little more satbility in their lives. All this could does make alot of sence but could that in any way hurt ones chance of working for the airline in the present ( someone under 30) that might have the same total time and experience of someone older? does anyone know if this way of pre-screening has already taken effect?

Must be a load of crap cuz I know at least 4 guys that got on in the last 6 months (some still on course) that are under 28, 2 of which are under 25!
It's always been a mystery, and will always be. From what I've seen however, the ONLY way in right now is to know a captain that will walk in your resume...

Give me a couple of days to get it back and ill even copy the whole article.Hopefully I'm wrong on this issue. On the other hand it will give me some time to build by hours and get more line experience. Ciao for now.
