Question Flying Tanker

Could anybody give me some information regarding the aerial firefighting industrie.(Alberta and BC) Is there any training done by any school? Is it a full time job or just 8 months per year? What is the average salary?..... <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Highlandman:

In Alberta the company to contact is Airspray limited in Red Deer.

In B.C. it is Conair in Abbotsford.

There are no schools for firebombing.

You generally start as a first officer on bombers or as a Bird Dog Pilot.

It is a four month a year job in B.C. and three months in Alberta.

The pay is different depending who you work for but will be between approximately thirty thousand dollars Canadian and up to around sixty five thousand per year working for a Government, such as Ontario.

What I suggest you do is contact the companies and inquire.

I may be a little wrong on the pay as I have not been in the business since 1986.

H.man:

You should give it a try, just like any other job in Aviation all you need sometimes is the right place at the right time.

It is a very interesting job so you should at least try.
