Question The Merger

As someone just entering the job force, I think it would be interesting to hear everyones opinion on how the CP/AC merger is going to affect/change things.

Unhappy

I guess it is going to be one of those wait and see kinda things. I have read that one of the plans will be to cut back on the duplication of flights. I don't know, to me that sounds like a need for fewer crews.
It will be interesting to see what happens at the regional level. Will the regional carriers merge as well, since AC would own almost all of them? Will that create a surplus of experienced pilots? I wish I had a crystal ball.
Like you I am new to the job market having recently finished my training and it makes me wonder if I made the right choice to get into the aviation industry .. maybe I should have bought an ice cream truck instead

Red face

The one good thing is there are going to be more jobs with the merger than without Canadian all together! I had heard some talk of asking AC to sell off all their regionals to reduce the monopoly, but AC said no. I would like to see the charters grow to fill some of the market. Overseas is starting to look like a really good place to fly!
