Lightbulb Fedex exec almost run off the road by Morningstar pilots...

Morningstar is currently under contract negotiations for wage parity with their U.S comrads but in Canadian $$. Midnight July 13 was their strike date if their pay issue wasn't resolved. Apparently Fedex flew some brass into YYZ to meet with Morningstar and the pilots union. This lad was almost run off the road by hot temperred pilots. Morningstar management says they will fold the company before they pay the pilots that amount of $$. Freight pilots in Canada are WAY underpayed compared to our U.S friends.
Good luck to all of the Morningstar pilots with your negotiations.

It would appear that "extremism" by both parties is the order of the day.

When are we going to learn that "extremism" doesn't work in a global economy.

These folks had better learn to talk to each other...

Are the Morningstar pilots comparing their salaries to mainline fedex pilots, or comparable wet lease/for hire pilots whose companies carry ON BEHALF of fedex..two very different situations

Red face

Ironbutt57,

Morningstar is basing their pay increase based off what Fedex pilots are making. They are asking for Canadian $$ though. Fedex is consequently the highest paid freight drivers in the world, and I suppose Morningstar wants a bigger piece of the pie. Though the increase is in Canadian $$, it would set a HUGE precedent if they got what they asked. Morningstar would fold the company as mentioned above, and Fedex would snap back their 4 aircraft which they lease to Morningstar for the incredible amount of $1 per year.
We shall see.....

I copied this information from another forum...

The Pilots and Flight Engineers at
Morningstar Air Express have agreed to end their strike and will enter into binding arbitration to settle their contract issues. They have returned to work as of midnight Saturday, July 14th. Thank you to all that supported us.
