Canada Ranks 3rd
Though not aviation it may be intereting for those interested in Canada.
After 7 consecutive years being ranked #1 by the United Nations as the best place to live
on the planet , Canada as slipped to 3rd place behind Norway (#1)and Australia (#2).
The reasons given for Canada's drop in the standings is the Country's apparent lack of concern for the poor and homeless.

Those UN ratings are not taken seriously, except by the poverty pimps who run our welfare state. If you look at the criteria for the ratings you'll notice that neither quality of life, personal freedom nor economic well-being are considered; the rating is based solely on the extent to which the state interferes with our lives. Canada was always rated number one in the past because we had the highest taxes in the free world and a government monopoly in health care that kills people on a routine basis as a means of balancing the budget.

An interesting assertion: I don't suppose you might have the odd fact to back it up by any chance?

Code Blue, when I worked in the healthcare system during Bob Rae's reign of terror in the early 90s the hospitals had quotas on procedures performed. These quotas were set so that the more expensive procedures had the longest waiting lists. The budget process optimized the waiting times so that a percentage of patients would die before being treated, thus reducing the overall number of procedures.

Third out of 150 odd (and some very odd) countries is not too shabby. When you take a good look at the criteria used eg. reading ability (without accounting for ESL) the survey only can be loved by it's mother.
The UN as always has vested interests that must be served.
Anyway, even with the UN Slant, nothing wrong with 3rd. .....

The UN should take a trip into downtown Calgary and see our new "Home for the Homeless". Looks nicer on the outside then
the Delta hotel up the street.
We, in Canada are still blessed!
