ATPL Medical over 40?
TC does not make money from the recurrent medical fees. The cost of administering the aviation medical system is far greater than the $110 a year they charge us. According to my AME, the only reason we've still got age 40 rule is because of ICAO requirements, otherwise we'd switch to annual medicals across the board for ATPLs under 60. If Europe's gone that way, ICAO must have changed that rule, so maybe there's some hope yet ...

Only pilots are charged the fee, ATC and F/As and whatever are not charged.
Supposedly they use the fee to fund pubs.; it doesn't cost $55 to stick a form in a file and print a bit of paper every 2 years.
I stand by my post. Like somebody else posted, "Canada is a frozen banana republic."
