Arrow residing to Canada !

hi fellaws. I know this has been the subject for a few times on this forum, but i needed still some more advice on this.in about 6 months i will reside to BC (still working on my PR).
and my background is :
TT 4060 FAA/ATP (91/135) expired S/E CFI & frozen iranian ICAO
M/E 2200 BE 58 & C401/402 & kingaires
turbin time 1230 BE 90/99/100/300 C-208

And i don't mind to work hard to accomplish my goals,as i have done different jobs all the way from line works( washing too many king aires /flight instructor/night freight/ US forestry services/ US fisheries/ 135 PAX/EMS/corporate executive and so on)
here is my questions. regarding the current job market ,and all the neccessery networking do You guys think i should start sending my resumes out ( even before converting my ATPL) ?
or maybe i sould start my home study before i get there.
is there any chances at all with this much experience.what do You think where would i have any chance to get anything to started ( ready to pay my dues too as far as going to north)?
and my last qestions ,do You all think it would give me any kind of jump start to get a type on B 737's or A 320 ( however i would still need to work hard on the financing though)
i would appreciate any hints and advice.
oh btw ,i 'm suffering an 18 months gap in my log book by the time i get there.

Don't you still require internal references? You should be able to get in at WestJet since a few guys are leaving for AC they've been given interviews.

I think you'll find the job market more difficult in Canada than US(everything always looks better on the other side of the fence/border). I don't think anyone here will look at you until you actually have the Canadian licence and residence. Any type of personal reference is generally very important, so try to make some contacts. I could be wrong though, so good luck!

Don't waist your time or money paying for a type endorsment. There are less than half a dozen companies in canada which fly boeing or airbus equipment and having an endorsment dosen't realy mean anything unless you have some time on type to go with it.

Why Canada?

I would stay in the US and fly corporate thats where the money is, and use the money that you are going to spend moving and getting your license converted on a new SUV

Don't listen to the naysayers.

777 guy;

Don't listen to the naysayers, Canada is a work in progress and is nowhere near completion. Our county was/is built with immigrants such as yourself. We need people like yourself.
If you have all your ducks in a row, the paperwork is not much more than getting married or buying a house.
Westjet is obligated to hire pilots with no internal reference. Hiring only those with a reference exhibits prejudice toward a certain group of individuals. Apply now and continue and to update as you gain qualifications.
You are welcome here.

Good luck

Question

well i really appreciate Your advice. i'll go to Van/ BC but as i said i'm willing to pay my dues just like any other hard working one in the industry and relocate to other places too.
so now i have a question, why a type rating will guarantee me an unemployment situation in Ca???!!!
i thought the majores down there would rather candidates with some previous jet experience or rather being type rated already e,g WJ or ex Jetsgo!!!
what outfit(a corporate/fire fighting/bush pilot/ king aire ops) would be a best suit for me for start?and where would i have a realistic chances ?to be honest, with You guys,i don't want to over estimate neither underestimate myself.please give me Your opinion
p.s i have finished the F100 ground school and russian IL76 groundschool behind me but no type yet.if it was any use for these !!!!!!
fly safe

777,
With your background I would probably try the commuter route (Jazz et al) at first. The major airline has a lot of applications from jet guys and would probably not put you at the top of their list unless other hiring practices came into play. As for the type rating I agree that it is a lot of money to put into a guess. At best it would show motivation. If they want you they will train you. Good luck.
P.S. To all. I really liked the tone of this thread. Very civilized.

I agree with most posters here that spending money on atype endorsement is a waste of money and does not guarantee a job whatsoever.

With the expected movement of people to AC there should be some openings in the industry.
Jazz and WestJet are good candidates. I know that both have hired people from outside Canada (without references) in the past.

The easiest way is after you get to the country and get a feel for the industry (and country).
The corporate flying jobs are mainly a local thing and depends on WHO you know around there; although occasionally you'll find a position advertised.
Firefighting is highly specialised, with only a couple (3?) of private companies. They will be looking for some relevant experience (i.e. bush, mountain, large radials, Allison engines, CV-580, L-188, spraying) and their hiring is usually concluded by April.

With your type of experience the best bet is probably to get an initial job with a charter company that operates one of the A/C that you have experience on.

There is more information regarding the job situation at the AvCanada forum. Don't let the negative tone of some of the posters get to you:
http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/

Good luck.
