Canadian-ism

Here’s an interesting little “Canadian-ism” I’ve noticed. We all measure distance in time it takes you to drive someplace.

Q. How far from Calgary to Vancouver?
A. 12 hours.

Q. How far from Edmonton to Calgary?
A. 3 Hours.

I think it is because distances are so large as to be meaningless. We know we have to get there anyway, so all we care about is how long it is going to take us to get there.

These are my thoughts not yours. I want credit for this when you point it out to your friends too.

or as my missus says about Aberdeen, "och lass, it's a wee bit up the road" leading to a couple of miles of hike with her Bergen-like baggage!
