cdn PPL to JAA PPL

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to find out what steps I have to take in order to convert my Canadian Private Pilot Licence to a European one.

I'm not at all familiar with the JAA licencing regulations, I've heard that a written and flight test are necessary, anyone know more on it?

Not entirely sure, but for sure will be a flight test with all the gen handling, minus the spin (not in the JAA syllabus) and then navigation. As for the theoretical knowledge will be Air Law, and possibly Human Factors. Then need a JAA Medical Certificate, class 2 for PPL. May have to do more written's the usual for the stude in the UK is 7 on various subjects. As for how long it'll take, up to you and your ability to adapt to flying in Europe's confined airspace relative to Canada. Hope this is useful as a starting point. For more details and regs look up LASORS on the UK CAA website caa.co.uk and that will have specifics
