I am looking for the relevant CAR for the definition for logging Instrument flight time in ones logbook.

Thanks in advance.

When you get CAR's all sorted out an understand what they say, please explain them to the rest of us.

I couldn't find the answer in the CAR's either. I also looked in the LRA section of my AIP and didn't have any luck. I distinctly remember reading somewhere that you can only log actual IFR time when you are controlling and navigating the ship solely with reference to instruments. However, I can't find the reference...sorry.

Not all that easy to navigate through the CARS link...... I thought instrument time in the log book meant actual time in IMC on an IFR flight plan.

Hi,

As you flight under IFR flight plan, you can log as IFR. If you fly IMC you log Actual, if you fly with beautiful sun, you log Simulated.

You are under IFR flight plan, so you fly with the IFR regulation depending of the airspace where you have to assume traffic separation. So you can log IFR.
