Whats up everyone,

having done all of my flying in the Montreal area Ive also come across the roger of the controller once i´ve read back the ATC instruction. However, they usually say something like "sure" instead of "roger" at least thats what Ive been picking up.

Dont think its of any help to you, just wanted to mention it and enjoy Canada!

Thanks for finding out for us. I shall continue to send ACARS requests with my prefered (rather than filed) level and speed then. I must just be unlucky with my timing! I would have thought that Gander would have prefered us to cross at the M0.8 we request rather than the M0.78 the company sometimes file though.

Live and learn.

Thanks again

Thanks for the replies, it's all clear as mud, eh? Was down on the floor this week and found some controllers do, some don't verify the read backs. Oh well back to the drawing bored.

Congrats on the checkout, Jericho. Mind me asking how long it took? They're telling us 9 - 10 months here. Oh, could you send some of the peg's snow over as we seem to be rather lacking in that department at the mo.

He bl**dy does too, J! Having spent all that dosh on the fancy heat-molded ski boots, not to mention the snazzy skis, he desparate to launch himself off hills at the slightest provocation.
Since you'll have forgotten what hills are after so long at LATCC and now Manitoba, they're the things on the landscape that cause the MVA to get higher...

Hey Jerricho,

If you are the terminal controller with the South African (?) accent how about tightening up those vectors for those of us coming in from the north with 31 or 36 active?

Congrats.

How to p*ss off an Australian... First step, call him South African! It could be worse Jerricho, he could have called you English... Step 2, criticise his vectoring...

L n' L At least he didn't think I was a Kiwi

No rookie, that's not quite me, but I shall ensure the "terminal controller with the South African accent" sees this. It will make his day (as it has mine )

Geesh, what do you think I came to Canada for? The cuisine? Or maybe the lack of crime (Edmonton - gang capital of Canada!)?

Had to go all the way to Banff at the weekend to put the fore mentioned boots & ski's to good use

Bring on the snow, I say

F-T, patience my friend, patience.

You'll not be saying that so quickly when you're heading out to your car after a night shift, and realised to forgot to plug the thing in, and it's buried under a foot of snow. Oh, did I mention the doors are frozen shut?

Jerricho,

Don't confuse controller I refered to with the guy from Tanzania? (or someplace in Africa, all those accents sound the same ) whose first name starts with an M. He rocks.

Tight vectors and short gates!

Cheers

"Sure" is what "Roger" sounds like when the controller says it fast. They are most certainly not saying "sure"!

In any case I did notice a regional difference with the verification in that in Eastern Canada it seems more common to get Roger, while in western Canada they all say That is Correct. Way too wordy in my opinion.

Also, when I check in with arrival and say "Gelle 3 with India", why must you repeat back "information India is current"? It is not necessary to repeat this unless it has changed to Juliet and I have now informed you my information is not current (at least I don't think so).
