Crew Hours On Double Drop Flts
 

HI THERE,

Can anyone tell me what the crew hour limits are for double drop flts.

Example:

LGW-ACE-LPA-ACE-LGW

OR

ACE-LPA-LGW-LPA-ACE

I know it all depends what time you start duty etc but wonder if anyone can answer what the limit is both rostered and into discretion. 4 sector day can be long if any problems arrise.

Don't have my file handy at the mo to tell you what the CAA say's but that doesn't sound legal at any time of day!

For most a LGW-LPA or ACE-LGW is a days work, never mind a bit of island hopping!!!

Would ask you crewing guys to look into it, and definatley the union!

Under CAP371, and in any time band, the FDP is NOT legal unless a min rest period is thrown in there somewhere.

Assuming a report time of STD - 1hr and off duty is STA + 30mins, you'd be looking at a 12hr duty at least and that's assuming 30min turn time at ACE, LPA & ACE again, which you won't get.

Non starter mate and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise needs to go back to school.

Permitted FDP on a four sector day are as follows:-

Start Time (Local)

0600-0759 = 11 3/4
0800-1259 = 12 3/4
1300-1759 = 11 3/4
1800-2159 = 10 3/4
2200-0559 = 10

Discretion can be a maximum of two hours over the first, second, and third sector and three hours if used immediately prior to the last sector

Have operated several flights with a similar pattern, but operated:

LGW-LPA-ACE-LGW

as opposed to the

LGW-LPA-ACE-LPA-LGW

thus reducing the amount of sectors and also the duty day.

All depends on the block times and turnaround times but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

LGW-ACE = 4hrs 15mins
ACE-LPA = 30 mins
LPA-ACE = 30 mins
ACE-LGW = 4hrs 15mins

Turnaround times = 4 x 30 mins each
Report time before = 1hr

Total FDP required = 12Hrs 30mins

Max allowable FDP = 12hrs 45 mins (cabin crew reporting between 0800-1259 local)

Now, like most good schedules it looks good on paper, however in the real world I would say that you would be using discretion on that little day out.

LGW-ACE = 4hr 15m
Turnround = 45m
ACE-LPA = 30m
Turnround = 45m
LPA-ACE = 30m
Turnround = 45m
ACE-LGW = 4hr 15m

TOTAL 12hr 45m

Fine pencils were invented for schedules like that! ;)
