Most embarrassing thing to happen to you inflight...

I once put on the lifejacket the wrong way round in the demo.

Rammed a trolley into a pax's head by accident.

Tripped up during cabin secure much to the amusement of the stag party at the back.

:O

Oh my days...

Said "****** are delighted to welcome you to Girona, 20 mins ahead of scheduled time".... and kept going on and on "....,please refrain from smoking as Girona Airport is a non-smoking airport..." when we have just landed in GRANADA!!!!!!

And i was so angry when pax started to get up bewildered and some of them were very worried, and i DID say on the PA: "Ladies and gentlemen, PLEASE remain seated until the a/c comes to a complete stop, it is higly dangerous to unstrap while we're still moving...."

I had to try to make a funny PA when i realised the mistake but it all went ok in the end, some pax saw the funny side of it, some pax threatened to complain...

And i asked a gentleman to remove his headphones for take off when in fact, bless him, he was wearing a hearingaid earpiece....

:ugh::ugh::ugh:

Helped a disabled passenger to the toilet, who had no legs and arms, knowing he wouldn't be able to press the call bell when finished, I thought on my feet and and asked him to kick the door instead, so I could go back in and help him..... could've kicked myself!!
Was mortified, but he was very gracious about it.:\:\:\

Mayumie 24th Sep 2007 18:51

I changed to my cabin shoes after take off.. which is slightly bigger on my feet then when I was walking through the cabin I left my shoes about three steps behind me... :(

I also tripped and fell on my behind but good thing it happened in the galley where there are no passengers. :D

bluestar 24th Sep 2007 22:59

I forgot to get my apron before take off so i was rummaging around in my case in the overhead locker when my spear hold ups fell out onto a male pax's head!
he held them up and said 'whats this'?
everyone looked and he started laughing, :\
now i ALWAYS remember to get my apron before take off!
I also once kicked a pax in the face, they were lying by a door and all the lights were off, then i told her off!
Yes i did feel a little bad afterwards, but she shouldn't have been there :=

I fell over the other day and bashed meself on the airbus door hinge - we were still on stand.

I was once walking up the stairs to the upper deck on the 747 and left one of my shoes on the steps but got to the top before I'd realised.

I'd once run out of salted peanuts in my bar cart and had to get some from the other bar, I said to the gentleman I was serving 'hold on just a second while I go and grab your nuts'

PER210 25th Sep 2007 03:38

this didnt happen to me, but a lady on one of my flights couldnt get the lid off the orange juice. man, she was trying so hard to get it off haha. and when she did the juiced went flying out of the container, onto chairs and pax. she couldnt stop apologising.

I Just Want To Fly 25th Sep 2007 07:22

back when i worked at a LoCo, we we're always so busy, i barely got a chance to eat. i was sitting on my jump seat in the rear galley, all strapped in, and was going to have a yoghurt. i realised i didn't have a spoon so thought i would just drink it straight from the tub. we hit some bumpy air, and i ended up with yoghurt all over my face, hair and uniform. i had to just sit there until we landed. i still had two more sectors that day, so spent the entire turnaround in the toilet trying to clean myself up. thanks to the number 2 for taking care of my section.

flyblue 25th Sep 2007 07:51

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a pax struggling to open his bottle of wine. I was about (thanks goodness) to ask him if he "needed a hand" (polite for "can I help you" in the local language) when I noticed he had no left hand :(

ozangel 25th Sep 2007 08:29

ive had/seen a few.

Boarding, pre board approaches...

Me:
'Can I give you a hand sir?'

Pax:
'Yes, two would be nice'
(he had no arms).

A cabin manager in the safety demo pa:

'Your ****, sheet, your sheetbelt, ahem, your **** - *pa is lowered* -(muffled) jesus christ, ok, your SEATBELT now needs to be fastened, low and tight..'

orangestripes 25th Sep 2007 10:58

I have to be the queen of faux-pas! here's a few of my mishaps...

was tottering down the back in my heels, we hit turbulence and I ended up on the lap of the BOB that had been the focus of the flight :O

I have more than once called a 'mam' 'sir' (well they looked mannish anyway)

depressed the hand soap dispenser in the lav to wash my hands, but it didn't appear to have come out. Tried again, washed my hands, ventured out into the cabin and found out about 20 minutes later that the pearly white goopy handsoap had strategically landed on my trouser leg

oh and just the other day was doing the demo. I was proudly holding up the lifejacket as I have countless times over the years and had a lovely grin on my face, but the penny dropped when I heard 'pull down on the oxygen mask firmly'... woops!

Getoutofmygalley 25th Sep 2007 11:38

I have had a few things happen to me that made me almost wish for a decompression and me to get sucked out of the hole in the fuselage.

First one was when I had only been flying for a few months, I was doing the service as the Number Four with the SCCM at the front of the aircraft, I bent down to get a can of beer out of the trolley for a pax and my trousers split right at the crutch, so I had to spend the rest of that 4 sector day with ripped trousers whilst sitting opposite the pax for take off and landing whilst wearing white boxer shorts which were clearly visible.

Next one was when I was the Number Two, a pax during boarding had used the toilet and complained that there was no soap in the toilet, so I went to the toiletries locker and as I opened the locker door a bottle of soap fell out and hit the woman below hard on the cheek. I stood there with the locker door open and was apologising to her like my life depended on it and asking if she was ok. The second bottle of soap then rolled out and landed squarely on her head - I just slammed the locker shut, grabbed the bottle and headed off back to the galley whilst making a mental note to kill the Number Three who had failed to restock their toilet and safely stow the toiletries.

Worst one was on a late evening flight when the cabin lights had been lowered to their lowest setting. A pax stopped me whilst I was walking through the cabin and said to me that when we had rotated the very expensive fountain pen that they had in their pocket had fallen out and gone onto the floor. The pax had said that they would have gotten up themselves to look for it but couldn't actually bend down to the floor (WCHR) - the fountain pen was almost the same colour as the carpet so I couldn't spot it. I said to the pax "don't worry, I have a torch in my crew bag, I will just go get that and I will be back in a moment". So I went to the overhead locker where my crew bag had been stowed, opened up the locker and reached up to get my bag. As I reached up a poorly stowed laptop bag fell and I went to grab it, but as I put my arm out to grab it, my hand caught the side of the bag and it flew away from me and hit the woman seated in 2E right in the face, the bag then deflected off of her and landed in the man in 2F's lap - both pax were asleep and were woken up rather abruptly. The woman who the bag hit in the face was almost in tears and the man in 2F was nursing his family jewells  I was mortified that I had managed to injure 2 pax and luckily the laptop bag owner didn't say anything (he was probably too scared to as it was his fault for not stowing it correctly inside the locker). When I had finally got my torch and gone back to the pax who had lost his pen, I said to him about what had just happened and he started laughing and said "I know, I saw what happened - funniest thing I have seen in ages", I was far from amused at this comment and spent the next 10 minutes on my hands and knees looking for the pen, which I could not find. Turns out that the pax had been sitting on it all the frickin time! :*

There has probably been a few more, but those are the only ones I can think of right now. :}

sundaybrunch 25th Sep 2007 13:23

i was walking up the stairs on 747-400 when one of my shoes came off. there was a pax hanging around at the bottom of the stairs, called out to me "hey cinderella, you dropped your slipper!"

star84 26th Sep 2007 07:20

I did the safety demo with my fly undone and hot pink knickers on.

I told a woman who had thrown up all over herself that I would go and get her some chux (brand of paper towels on plane)

I fell down the a/c stairs on a A320 from the top to the bottom while holding a carton of crispy creme doughnuts. The doughnuts flew out the end of the undercover stairs first, and then I followed. It hurt like hell and i ripped my trousers to shreads. Then I had to write an accident report detailing the incident. I was so embarrassed!!

britannialad 26th Sep 2007 19:32

i was on a drinks service had a coughing fit! whilst i coughed i did this massive fart at the same time!!
The passengers just looked at me disgusted!

sinala1 29th Sep 2007 08:03

I quite literally very nearly fell out of my chair laughing when I read these ones:

We have packets of mixed nuts/pretzels... male pax asked me "how big are your nuts" and looked at my with a smirk on his face waiting for my response - bucketloads of self control were required for that particular question!

Many years ago we were just taxiing onto the gate after landing when a passenger stood up. As I was picking up the PA to make the standard "please remain seated" PA I said under my breath "Sit down or I will slap you"... except it wasnt as 'under my breath' as I had hoped - the entire front row heard me! :ooh: Luckily they all found it rather amusing.... :\

Abusing_the_sky 29th Sep 2007 09:38

DOH!

Just the other day we were boarding as you do (DOH!) and i was by the overwing exits to make sure i have ABP's bla bla bla... Anyway this very, VERY tall gentleman comes straight to those rows but he was walking a bit funny, like he had a disability or something. So here am i thinking "here we go again..." and said as he was sitting : "Excuse me Sir, i'm affraid you can't sit here, if you could chose any other seat?". The man bewildered asked me "Why?" and i said "Well the law is that no impaired persons can be seated in the Emergency Exit rows and i see you have a bit of trouble walking...". The gentleman just looked at me as if i have just slapped him and his entire family and then showed him the finger and stood up properly (HIS HEAD WAS TOUCHING THE CABIN'S CELLING!!!!!!!!!) ans said "But i'm perfectly fit love, i'm just walking like this so i won't bang my head against the overhead lockers"
Having hear that, all i wanted to do was to crawl under a stone and stay there for the rest of my life, i was so embarrassed:ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

ContractFlyGal 29th Sep 2007 12:42

Years ago I was working a flight and we hit some nasy turbulence, I went flying in the cabin! When I came down my dress was up over my head....I had on panty hose.....but no panties!!

c_hostie 29th Sep 2007 13:38

I once opened the first overhead locker in the club cabin to get something out, and one of my high heeled shoes came flying out and landed on the pax's dinner tray! IN CLUB! Never again will I stow shoes in an overhead locker!!

cotita 29th Sep 2007 22:58

My friend took off one of her pantyhose (cold day and she was wearing two pairs)) right before the demo.
Went out and saw some guys laughing. Went back to the galley and I noticed her dress was way up her ass!
She didn't want to leave the galley afterwards!
