Virgin Cabin Crew
 

I would just like to say that 8 years ago (with Virgin) i had a bomb scare on the way 2 MCO, since then i havent been able to look at a plane let alone think about getting on one! My parents booked a hol wid u for may. I was dreading it all year.
At the airport, about 2 get on the plane, i couldnt. I was cryin, shaking.. petrified. A crew member called Lisa .S. Douglas came over took my hand and reasured me to get on the plane with lots of hugs. At first i couldnt and was still afriad .. then she took me to the galley to calm down. She then introduced me to the rest of the cabin crew and stayed with me until taxi. Once airbourne she came and got me out of my seat. I stayed in the galley with her, Laura, Margaret, Dishy, Abbey, Carley, Manuella, Johnny, Rebekah. Lisa let me wear her red apron once my confidence had grew and i was allowed to serve the pax. with her. Now, i would love to become a Virgin CC when im old enouh! I would like to thank her soooo much for helping me to over come my fears (as well as the other CC). I cant beleive she managed to help me overcome my fears! Even had me giggling which i didnt think i would! Some of the passengers are reli stupid tho no offence... we offered them juice or water and they were saying coke. I was shocked! Nd with afternoon tea.. !

Im 15 but i got to be a Cabin Crew for the 9 hour flight. So i got to serve the pax. and as the cabin crew sed on the flight some of the pax. are reli stupid in what they ask for ... i want to be a cabin crew when im old enof as im only 15 ...

That's a beautiful story.... Why don't I go and puke while you go and learn how to write the English language correctly.

The problem is that this IS how the English language is taught today, phonetically.
Add to that a generation growing up with "TXT spk" many discussion forums are becoming difficult to view as you spend twice as long trying to decipher what has been written.

I think it's cool that they let her help with the service to take her mind off her fear, and I agree with the above poster, AMS. It's really sweet that she went to the effort in trying to get her thanks out to the crew responsible :ok:

Well hello Jen! I saw you had posted on here so thought i would take the opportunity to say hello. I don't know if you remember me Jen from your flight. I was sat in 25a (next to the galley in which you were in with the crew). I was the first passenger that you served with Lisa!
I remember seeing you looking scared and chatting with you. You were such a lovely girl and it was great to see you looking relaxed towards to the end of the long flight on 'hot lips'. I remember being jelous of you :). I am a frequent flyer with many airlines and never have i seen such fear, o such caring cabin crew.

I agree with the above posts, I think its really nice of you to post on here.

Really... why don't you chill out a little... the girl is 15 yrs old and using an online forum to try to thank someone for helping her out. It doesn't matter if she uses txt speak, thats what teenagers do...

Really, get a life and find something thats worth moaning about.

Sorry for the late response, I've been on holiday.

I love working for Virgin. They are the company for you to aim to work for for sure! With regards to getting to know the crew... its hard to explain. The crews always bond so well extremely quickly. I think thats because we're used to working with a brand new crew each time we go to work, and because we have SO much fun down route.

So although we have a lot of fun, I wouldn't say that you truely get to know people and make solid friendships. Dont get me wrong, it does happen, and I've got loads of friends at work - but with well over 4000 crew in the company, and only 12-18 crew on each flight, you can go for years without seeing someone.

Just work as hard as you can on your GCSEs, get a part time job in the customer service industry if you can (i.e. in a shop, or hotel work), and dont forget your dream. I grew up wanting to work for Virgin - no one else. It took me 2 applications, and I had to start with another airline first, but I got there in the end!

By the way, have you ever seen the film "A view from the top"? - If not hire it out from Blockbuster or somewhere. I think you will love it! :ok:

Virgin Boi, i hope you had a great holiday. Thank you for answering my questions and for the good advice, i really appreciate it :ok:. My aim, like yours is to most definately work for Virgin now.
I had no idea there were that many crew! It was great fun, and the crew seemed to get along really well making the time go faster. I will work as hard as i can now, in my final GCSE exams and hopefully then i can be crew for Virgin... and like you said 'follow my dream'.

I hope you dont mind me asking a few more questions ..
How long have you been a cabin crew member with Virgin for? What is your favourite destination / flight to be on? Have you got to be 18 or 19 to become a Virgin cabin crew?

Nope, i have not yet seen that film, but as you and AMS recommend it i will rent it out!

Work even harder and join us at BA. Well done to the crew and a story that does credit to Virgin.

Brilliant Basics... Magic Touches... As lame as it may sound, there are times when you can see we have some of the best crew in the sky! I hope the CSS on the flight saw this, and gave all crew an Outstanding on their PMs.

What should happen, is that the crew members concerned should have a note put on their file and they'll gain a point towards their performance monitoring. They should also receive a copy of the letter in their drop file.

It's lovely the way they looked after you. Nowadays you just need to be careful incase "the militia" think it is a health and safety risk and someone gets in trouble! Personally though, I think it's great the way they helped and took your mind off your fear.

I gather T or C sir, that the management have decided in the light of the pay negotiations that this is a fantastic way to go.
One FSM and a crew of voluenteers from Economy on a promise of a future op-up to serve the drinks and snacks. Fantastic cost savings to the airline! :}:}:}:}

Yes I am the same Jen, and I am going to see if they do this for me too in the airline I will be flying with- not Virgin unfortunately, but a different airline. Stewardesses can be very nice to nervous people. I guess I'll have to put my pilots uniform in my briefcase until they've taken me to my seat in the flightdeck, then get changed quickly!

Well done for conquering your nervousness. There's really nothing to worry about....but let's not let them know we know that OK?...........

T & C - I hope it doesnt get them into trouble ... due to health and safety i just wasn't allowed to actually serve tea and coffee (allowed to clear it up though!!!) everything was fine for me to do ... i hope they do get recognized because they worked really hard to ensure i overcame my fears...

Hehe.. the FSM said that i was saving them money as i was helping without being paid..!! :)

Rainboe .. who are you flying with then? I can appreciate now as there is not much to be scared of as they prooved this to me by allowing me to help. I hope that you get to do the same ... I know that it is rare though as was explained to me ... :ok:

I am led to believe that he normally needs a lot more than his hand being held by a female crew member, and then to hug him, and finally to take him in the galley ;) for him to calm down...

Some say that he isn't responsible enough to be let loose serving the tea and coffee either... I couldn't possibly comment!
