Q.. why do you want to work for Emirates ?

i want to become cabin crew with Emirates because they holds a very high standard of fantastic customer service and have a forward thinking approach to improve the company to its best, i myself hold a very high standard of fantastic customer service. i always try to exceed my expectations of what excellent customer service should be( eg trying to do that little bit extra for a customers to make there day by always giving 100%at all times)
I'm hard working, i work well as part of a team and i take directions very well. I'm a bright confident man and i hold a very high standard of self appearance at all times.i think with my customer service skills and my past background as cabin crew i think that i would be a perfect applicant to become cabin crew with such a successful airline such as Emirates .

so feed back on this would be great , i read that they really like you to think this answer over , that what i read on the website , so let me have it , is it good enough ?.... and no one and i mean no one is allowed to use this in the Dublin assessment day ( Aug 15th 2007)

Medicals All Over Again
 

Say that I'm coming from Etihad and I want to join Emirates. Will I have to go through all the injections, medicals, blood tests, dental tests, etc. all over again if I'm switching airlines? Abu Dhabi and Dubai are in the same country, so I'm pretty sure they won't make me go through all of that again. Does anyone know the exact answer to this? Thanks a lot everybody!

Online joiners form
 

Has anyone else recently completed the online joiners form? I noticed when you first go in to the screen there were 3 links: 1 to the form, 1 titled coming to Dubai and another. I completed the form and then when went to log back in it wouldn't let me as my application had already been submitted and I didn't look at the other links beforehand.

Did anyone see what they were? Were they providing information? Does anyone also know what the online joiners form is for?

I did my medicals in dublin. The doctor's exam cost me €220. I had to get the X-Ray from a hospital (€80) and the audiogram from a specialist (€35). Vaccinations cost €150. Dental report and x-rays costs were €100 (including a clean, but no repairs or anything)
Total €585. Shop around...one crowd wanted to charge me €1400!!!!!

Frank Gavin on Dorset St. did my photos. They gave me 4 full lengths and 4 passport photos for €50. I got them back straight away. Hope you do great on the day.

As to those medical costs - did you need to pay for those costs yourself?or will you get that money back from the company?

There were four stage for the hopefuls to pass. The first one was where most people were dismissed. It was based on CV, arm reach test and group discussion performance. The second was an english test (for non-native english speakers) The third was another group discussion. The forth and final stage was the interview.

There is also a personality test after the second group discussion, which I believe is more important than some people think. I think it was designed to figure out if you are an outgoing person and whether you can follow instructions and that sort of thing.

does anyone have experience with the interview , type of questions? whats their looking for etc etc .

hi there! for the final interview, the questions were mostly situational. they actually base their question from your past work experiences. example of a question is like
"recall a situation where in your customer became irate and how did you handle it?"

another is.. "recall a situation where in you had a conflict with your team mate / colleague and what did you do to fix to fix the situation?"

" a situation where in you had a conflict with your boss.."

questions like that!hehe. hope this can help!:)

well i have an answer about the irate pax . but conflict with my boss , this one would be a tricky one because you dont want them to think that you like to go and gove out to your boss , any ideas , i was thinknig about somthing along the line of . i'd never get agressive or raise my voice but sit dowm and explain my side of the story and try work things out that way , will need to re word it but ya get what i'm say

i tried to answer some of the questions like that, but they stopped me and pressed me for an example. They are only interested in examples. Then they follow up with a question about the example you gave. Maybe they were pressed for time in my interview or something, but they didn't want to hear any waffle at all. Just concise answers.

if you dont mind me asking , what was the example you gave them ?

I said that I messed up something in my first week of the job (something very small) and that my boss pulled me up on it. My boss explained my error and i accepted it that I was wrong. And I didn't make that mistake again.

Even if it sounds like they want an example of when you had an argument with your boss, they really don't want to hear that you did.

If all else fails, I'm sure it wont be a problem to say (after a minute or two thinking) "I don't think that I have ever been in that situation"

Reach tests
 

Hi steegily.
I am quite curious about the reach test.
Did a lot fail it?
Amongst all the elimination processes, thats what im most minful about actually.
How did they go about it exactly.?

For the reach test, they had a small poster on the wall. They asked us to put our hand on the wall next to the poster and reach as far as we could. I can't tell you how many failed, because we were asked not to look at the people whilst they're doing it. I didn't hear of anyone that failed it. Apparently, you can stand on one foot and stretch, but I'm not sure about that one, but you can stand on tip toes. I guess if you mark 212cm on a wall and are able to reach it, you'll be fine. Hope you do well!

so how long did it take to be finally approved? What I mean is how much time passed since your first interview and when you received final letter for approval? 6 months or more?

How many people were there for the interview?
