QANTAS ironing Virgin Atlantic (merged)

Hi All,

What is the full story on the altercation between the QF and VA crews in the Truck the other night in Japan.

I heard that QF ended it with an iron to the head of a VA crew member.

Will this mean that the truck will be off limits to crew from now on? Where will one go to practice singing???

Oh hear we go...bring on the galley FM! Who really cares? I went once to see what all the fuss was about and I'm still in the dark! Apart from having the unfortunate experience of hearing two people "having fun" in the cubicle next to me and getting beer spilt all over my new jeans it's just plain manky in there.

AND WHO THE  CARRIES AN IRON AROUND WITH THEM ANYWAY!!??

Re: QANTAS ironing Virgin Atlantic

Heard nothing about this - hoping the Truck is not off limits to QF/VS crew - my last Long Haul trip is NRT and I was looking forward to a finale at The Truck!!!

Will do some galleyfm research and get back with an answer... watch this space :confused: :ouch: :}

I personally carry a Phillips Teflon Coated Azure 3000 Iron with me, every time I go out for a drink. I find it easy to wipe the blood and skin off the telfon coated base, also the steam holes leave a lovely impression on the other persons face, as long as the temperatures at the correct setting. :E

Table cloths and canapes? Yeah I can see it now as you walk up the 'steps' to the truck door - "Good Evening, Sir/Madame and welcome back to our establishment... before you enter our premises for an evening of top level entertainment, may I tempt you with a Bellini accompanied by a selection of salmon and cream cheese on french bread, or perhaps some of our finest local caviar?"

BC check your pms :ok:

apaddyinuk 17th Jan 2006 11:28

DO you know what, the truck is a dump, BA crew have been advised not to go there anymore, its full of twats who cant handle their drink and have nothing better to talk about other than work and why their airline is better than yours and if that isnt enough then they need to spike drinks to get a sh@g!!!
Theres plenty more to do and see even in Narita believe it or not and if you feel the need to go to the truck then that does not say very much about you and your crew!

Da Dog 17th Jan 2006 12:29

Come on then paddy spill the beans:rolleyes: What more is there to do in NRT thats so much better than the truck, do you mean "the cage" (watch the steps when you stagger away) or maybe its the barge, flyers, I dunno the whole place is a dump, once you have done the temple short of getting on a fast train to Tokyo and spending the night out thats it.

sinala1 17th Jan 2006 16:29

Paddy mate no need to be so harsh - different people enjoy different things... and I tend to not take my slippers, book and kettle with hot chocolate on my NRT trips - sorry! :D

apaddyinuk 17th Jan 2006 18:38

OK, I lied, there are not really any better places to go....But having experienced two very tragic nights in the Truck ( I should have learnt my lesson the first time) where two of my crew were attacked, one drugged and another left a large bill from another airline I really think this place is bad news! At least at the cage I can sneak away back to the hotel when the cr@p hits the fan!!!

sinala1 17th Jan 2006 18:40

left a large bill from another airline
The Truck is running tabs now??????

Thats got *bad* news written all over it

Da Dog 17th Jan 2006 19:08

last time I went to the truck they were not running tabs:ok: You order your drinks then pay for it, so paddy are you speaking the truth. Also never heared of anyone being drugged, and since BA try and nanny us all the time I am sure they would have crewlinked us eh paddy? still telling the truth? Or was it to much pop?

Still I'll conceed one thing at least one person I know has been attacked (badly) by an out of control onker, but you can'thave everything:{

Only last week the US Navy were trying to wreck SIN;)

apaddyinuk 17th Jan 2006 19:39

Da Dog, actually there have been messages to us about the truck in cc news and I think there was something on the briefing room walls too! And i didnt say the bill was for booze!!!

AND there have been PLENTY of situations where crew have been drugged there, after it happened on my flight we were told about several other instances over the last 2 years. You just dont tend to hear of it because thankfully (to the best of my knowledge could be wrong on this one) it has not lead to anything more serious such as rape. No fibs here my man!

Da Dog 17th Jan 2006 19:52

fair enough just suprised that nanny BA have not passed this on:confused:

lowerlobe 18th Jan 2006 04:11

The bottom line is that the truck consists of either..

1: Tech crew

or

2: Cabin crew looking for tech crew

So unless you are either one of these groups ,why would you bother

Prosecution rests

speedbirdhouse 18th Jan 2006 13:15

Well said that man.

Did you mean, "prostitution" rests...........

lowerlobe 18th Jan 2006 14:09

Speedbirdhouse ....Like the proverbial nail on the head

And the funny thing is that the tech crew think that they are the predators...

When the reality is that you have cabin crew there on a search and destroy mission for a sperm donor with a high disposable income

Hand Solo 18th Jan 2006 17:10

Its a wood lined shipping container on the back of a lorry trailer with a karaoke machine at one end and a bar at the other filled with pi55ed up Ozzies looking for a fight with anyone. Thats it really.

ozskipper 18th Jan 2006 18:01

It's hell with fluorescent lighting and condemned people who think they can sing!

It's occasionally fun, but trust me Iain, I think it may be a bit of an eye opener for you young man! Stay well clear! :}

Da Dog 18th Jan 2006 18:22

Iain I think you need to go, you really do need to see it, to even begin to undersatnd it:ok:

lowerlobe 18th Jan 2006 19:30

Handsolo...Not only QF tech crew but you forgot to mention tanked Fijian and other airlines tech crew all trying to impress some hostie who is looking for her next case in the divorce courts so as to increase her net wealth.

There is also the occassional yakuza heavy who is annoyed at seeing a gaijin with a local girl that he is interested in from an earlier session in town and uses his stiletto to display that anger....luckily not fatally though for the F/O concerned

There are enough low dives and gin palaces around the world but if you want to experience one then the truck smells and sounds just like most of them and it is fun to see the pick up attempts

Standard Jet Dep 20th Jan 2006 12:53

The Truck mmm heard a bit about it from the crew as im always trying to convince them to head into Tokyo for what i think is the worlds top nights out. However after reading this forum thread i feel i might just have to do it on my next trip over.
So any of the local keystone cops (Chibas finest) turn up for these rucks. I suppose they would have a problem nicking those very bad gaijin as they would have to nick the whole bar.lol.
So is it a mix of crew/ Ground and many Japanese? I kind of thougt it was more or less a gaijin only hang out. Whats the other places like around NRT?

Interesting thread keep them coming.

Virgin Boi 20th Jan 2006 20:48

But guys, to get back to the topic inhand here, I too have heard lots of rumours about 2 of our crew getting into a fight (involving an iron) with 2 Qantas crew in the Virgin hotel in NRT very recently. Id be very very interested to know the full story!

lowerlobe 20th Jan 2006 22:06

So now it is the pub not the truck..mmmm

Was it over a virgin girl and the boys challenged each other to irons at 20 paces or was it a couple of sensitive boys having an iron off....

My blouse is ironed better than yours.....

fly me 22nd Jan 2006 18:41

back off punk!

:ouch: well my mummy ironed mine before i left base and shes the bestest ever so neeeerrr!:{

fly me 22nd Jan 2006 19:01

another truck ruk!!!!

is it true the "story" i heard today about VS and QF crews in NRT? apparently it went one step further and it ended with a domestic appliance free for all! one poor guy lost an ear to a morphy richards food processor  , another unlucky soul had a rather unfortunate ruckas with a dyson 5000 deluxe edition in sunset yellow! :oh: if anyone else would like to add to "what they saw" please fill us all in! it sound viscious!;) :D

lowerlobe 22nd Jan 2006 19:47

If this ever did happen ..which knowing the usual BS that surrounds flying I doubt.
Then they were a pack of girls...honestly,can you imagine guys in a hotel room using an iron in a fight..spare me please...

I hope one of them did not break a nail...or smear his lipstick

sinala1 22nd Jan 2006 20:32

Latest I have heard is that the QF crew ended up back at the crew room in the VS crew hotel. The crew room is near the 'laundry' room (that hotel does not provide inroom irons, you have to go to the laundry room to do your ironing) and the altercation reached 'ironing' point in there - but as NRT is my next (and last :{ ) trip, I will do some more research :}

lowerlobe 23rd Jan 2006 00:47

cleaning utensils and other fighting aids

Biscuit chucker..I'm sure that irons and other implements used around the home have been used for purposes other than which they were designed or intended.

However, the thought of a crew member using an iron to attack or defend themselves sounds a bit far fetched..unless you were being threatened with death...or you were some bible fanatic as you mentioned.

were these pugilists tech or cabin crew???

Even with the propensity for fighting that alcohol seems to be encouraging these days, this sounds unlikely even in the russell crowe suite in LAX

I can just see the next cabin crew news #57..

Attention crew ...Irons are not to be used for any purpose other than the correct grooming of uniform and personal attire...death or serious injury may result from such unnauthorised use and as such a request for said iron and board is to be put forward in triplicate to housekeeping

In a former life I used to wear a blue uniform and although I have seen many improvised weapons ,this one sounds like another bit of folklore unless the crew involved were either mentally unstable or affected by foreign substances...or maybe a bible meeting

lowerlobe 23rd Jan 2006 21:31

Who knows what various crew digest in slip ports but for an item such as an iron to be used (if true) then stupidity booze or whatever must have been involved.

This sounds as though the argument was a little more than a disagreement about cricket or rugby if a weapon was used

capt.cynical 24th Jan 2006 00:01

:uhoh:
You may all have missed the point !!
The referance to the word Iron may be a term used to flatten something or someone !!
"Yeah mate I threw a right hook and ironed him right out"
:p

lowerlobe 24th Jan 2006 00:50

or maybe it was over a woman and the other half has returned and wanted the same thing as the other guy...stranger things have happened or started over the prospect of some horizontal fun....and the iron was close as the other guy came through the door....who knows....

the main problem is that you can't just expect some fun these days without someone else wanting to iron your clothes for you...if you know what i mean

wish 28th Jan 2006 07:13

This incident did happen. The virgin crew were followed back to the crew hotel by two males from the truck. They then seriously assaulted 2 members of the the virgin cc one male and one female , he was hit several times with an iron leaving him unconscious with bad head injuries and the girl having being punched several times. It took place in the vending area.

lowerlobe 28th Jan 2006 20:12

And you are saying they were Qantas crew????

if this did happen with serious injuries then the police would be all over with crew being questioned at the hotel ....this and considering I do a number of NRT's ,why is the only place I have heard of it is on PPrune

sinala1 28th Jan 2006 23:08

I can quantatively say this incident did take place, and given the pending police investigation and potential for prosecution against certain individuals (who have been positively identified by VS hotel CCTV footage in conjunction with the other airlines hotel reception staff) may I politely suggest discussion on this topic be suspended for now...

:ouch:

lowerlobe 29th Jan 2006 06:22

I'm sure you believe that it actually took place but in my time I have heard people swear on oath that they saw something happen or witnessed an event when in reality nothing happened or if it did it was completely different to what was described..

When was this alleged assault supposed to have occured?

sinala1 29th Jan 2006 09:07

LowerLobe I know for a fact that it took place, and that the crew involved have since returned to NRT to pursue the police actions... I am not at liberty to discuss it in any more detail on a public forum... sorry!

:ouch:

milli 29th Jan 2006 18:56

vending area

I work for Vs and I too heard this and thought - Im honestly not surprised as our guys can get a bit over protective of us sometimes!! Even if we just talk to other guys!!

It does totally make sense if it was in the vending area as there is a washing/vending machine area down there and thats usually where eventyone ends up for thier chix n chips of an eve!! (wot no ebaneezas!)

lowerlobe 29th Jan 2006 21:50

I find it interesting that in an industry that excels at rumour mongering that there is not a whiff of this in QF...To mates of mine and myself that are NRT regulars you would have thought that we would have heard about this by now especially if the local boys in blue are asking questions...

Maybe the guys involved are not with Qantas....I realise that you cannot give names here but someone here could at least give a time frame for this alleged assault. That would not prejudice any investigation!!!

lowerlobe 30th Jan 2006 20:17

Interesting how it has not made any news in sydney but then again if it was QF cabin crew it would be on pages 1,2 and 3 in every Australian newspaper but if it was QF tech crew then it would be hushed up and would probably never come out....This is if the alleged were in fact QF crew..
