Amy - I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to see a response like yours. I've been reading this thread for a while and its great the way people are so supportive to total strangers. While other ppruners feel the need to go for the jugular, which doesn't really help anyone. it just goes to show that if you want it badly enough - you can.

Take care, Blu

30+

I agree with Amy, I have just had a friend who is 30 and another who is 34 just get accepted and are now in training. I think EK is relaxing on the age restrictions a little now. Go for it and hopefully we'll meet in Dubai!! :D

Final interview..now the Emirates Wait....

Hi everyone,

I completed my final interview on the 15th JAN and I'm now patiently waiting for that life changing call...

I just wanted to get the feel from a few of you out there who had to undergo "the wait/call" from Emirates. Its been just over 3 weeks since the interview and I'm getting a little anxious. One of the girls who sat her interview 3 days before me has had "the call" and she starts next month!! I'm so happy for her, as she really deserves this. Another girl who had her interview the same day as me is also patiently waiting…

Did most of you hear back within the 4 weeks? Or was it slightly after this time frame?? I've read that some people waited months. How was this communicated to you - phone, fax, email??

I dont want to start calling the office to hassle them about my application, as I dont want to put on any pressure. Although I have contemplated calling them after 4 weeks - just to be sure Im still in the production line.... thoughts?

Any information would be greatly appreciated - hope you are all well, thanks for reading this far.

Take care and for all of you up there - enjoy that flying! Im itching to get off the ground :D

Hey PaulE,

It was exactly 3 weeks till I got the phone call from Dubai saying that I had been successfull. Don't want to build your hopes up too much, but you know the saying "no news, is good news"? Quite obviously, judging from the time frame that you have already waited, your interviewers were very happy with you and have recommended you to recruitment in Dubai that make the final decision. Crossing fingers and toes for you:ok: .

Paul...

Congratulations..... It's great to hear you got soo far in the Emirates recruitment process... Funny isn't it that not so long ago a certain individual on this forum was giving you a hard time and basically saying that we would have no chance of working for Emirates....

I spoke to my friend in Dubai and they informed me that male Cabin Crew can sometimes wait a little longer due to the fact that there are only usually 4 males per training school, hence it takes longer to be placed. Females on the other hand are offered positions fast..

I'm sure you will be fine... Let us know how you go..

Cheers

You guys! :D

Hey there Pam747 & Socialflyer,

Thank you so much for your kind words and plentiful wisdom - as usual! :D

Its great to know that you guys are sending me some good vibes across the oceans! Another reason why this board is so important to everyone alike.

Socialflyer - I will most surely be letting you know how I get along. I thought that because I gave them a later starting date (Mid April) they might of push me to the back of the pile. But you never know whats going on in the office or quite frankly how busy they are. I was browsing the www earlier and EK are up to their eye balls in open days - which is great! Not the most easiest jobs I can imagine. Ohh and hehehe, I know our "little friend" wasnt the best person for encouragement, we can only hope that (s)him can be more neutral and less hostile on the next topic. Thanks again Champ.

Pam747 - You sound much like my flatmate "No news if good news" hehe. Its very true. I will try and remember a little more often. Your support is greatly appreciated - Thank you again for your kind words of encouragement :D I will hopefully *fingers crossed* have some concrete news soon enough.

If anyone else out there can offer some insight - I'd love to hear from you.

Take care and all the best - PaulE

Hi Guys!

Not insinuating that Emirates are being bias, but i have a friend who has been through the interview process twice with Emirates and is now awaiting the same thing....However, when i asked her what the process was like, and being an Arabic airline, i expected more girls to get through, but she said how she was quite surprised that through each process, all of the males that made it through each process were all of an ethnic background and 99% of average Australian, British non ethnic males were rejected at the first interview. Does anyone have any info on this? Only because there are a couple of guys at work who want to apply but are a bit weary as they don't think they have a chance.

Just seeing what you think?

perth walk-in this weekend

Hey is anyone from perth going to the EK walk-in interview this Saturday?
Also does EK have an age limit ie minimum 21years of age???

Ranjha83 10th Feb 2004 16:18

EK

Hey, Did any one go to Cairns walk in interviews for EK?

Mel, I think you have to be over 21 for alchol services in Dubai I think, not sure. I still got 11 months to turn 21:confused:

Anyway I still would go to the perth walk ins, just to get the experience happening.:E

Pam747 10th Feb 2004 19:09

Hey OZcabincrew,

I don't think that you are insinuating anything, It's a perfectly valid question. Emirates have just about every nationality of male cabin crew as they do females. It is a known fact that they do recruit more females than males, thats just their policy. If they didn't want to recruit certain nationalities, then they simply wouldn't waste their time by inviting them for interviews. They obviously weren't (at the time) what Emirates are looking for. Please tell your friends at work to get their applications in as they stand just as much chance as anyone else.

Take care,
Pam XXX

@@Waiting for EK reply@@

Hello to Everyone out there,

It's been 5 weeks after my final interview, and i still have not receive any call from EK. I know that I should wait patiently as they were kinda of busy with numbers of applicants out there, but i'm just can't help thinking about it days n nights.

Could anyone who went for the interview in Singapore PM me please....!!!!

And to anyone who have any idea or information regarding the whole selection process....maybe you might want to share it with us. Thank you.

mystefied_09 11th Feb 2004 03:53

Hi Delila08,

Have you check your e-mail? There are some girls who received REJECTION letter from their e-mail. :( If you have not receive anything at all, there could be some hope as you r not rejected yet...meaning it could be in process!! :)

applying for emirates

Hi Everyone

Not sure if anyone knows but Im just curious if anyone has not waited the full 6 months before applying again. I am very keen to get in and 6 weeks seems a long time to wait to apply again.

Thanks

skyline_gtr 19th Feb 2004 03:37

6 months

I know a girl who had her first interview in the end of november, and then she went to another open day in january. Recruitment manager told her that she's not supposed to be present, but since she's already there she let her stay. And she got the job....flying to Dubai in march...
